OPTION 1: light sensor for basic overhead lighting + task lightingNC-v4 EQc6: Interior lightingposted by Marilou Communeau on Jan 29, 2018, 11:55 amHello, I am working in a project where overhead lighting is to be controlled by daylight/occupancy sensor. These lights provide the base lighting (~100 LUX when). They can be turned off manually. Additionally, task lighting is provided with on-off-middle switch. In order to comply with Option 1 of this credit, do we have to ask for an override "middle" level on the overhead lighting that is controlled with the sensors or is the on/off/middle task lighting enough? Thanks a lot EQc6 ... |

use open space outside of project areaHealthcare-v4 SSc3: Open spaceposted by Lene Hill on Mar 9, 2018, 4:42 pmWe have a project (building and parking lot) being built in a small master planned community. The community has several open spaces natural areas adjacent to the project with walking trails. These area amount to more than 30% of the project area and are connected to the project with walking trail actually going through part of the project in an easement. Can this be used as the open space requirement? SSc3 U.S. and Canada ... |

Is there a minimum period required for joint-useSchools-2009 SSc10: Joint Use of Facilitiesposted by Ward Miller on Mar 14, 2018, 6:15 amThe school is not in session for 16 weeks of the year and the entire campus and all facilities are with little to no use. Only several security, cleaning staff and administrators are present during this time, but the vast majority of the campus is closed. This will be the case in the current Performing Arts Center that is being added to the campus as well. As such, we are wondering whether allowing joint-use (in line with credit option 1) during the remaining 36 weeks of the year would be sufficient for meeting the intent and requirements of this credit? Hopefully someone has received a related GBCI... |

Hi Nancy,Product Libraries for LEED v4 & v4.1 Material Creditsposted by John Mlade on Oct 5, 2017, 1:19 amHi Nancy, You have a great point- materials information fatigue is setting in. We all feel it. However, I think it may be a good thing that there is so much happening. It is an exciting time across the materials landscape and there are a lot of questions for which we are still trying to find answers, and a lot of progress being made across the industry. If our concerns and considerations about materials... |

Floor area Ratio (FAR) calculation for Zero Lot Line ProjectsNC-v4 SSc4: Rainwater managementposted by Andrea Costa on Apr 30, 2018, 6:04 amDear all, Please, could someone explain me in further detail how to proceed with the FAR calculation? I've to check, for a project I'm following, if we can follow the Path 3- Zero lot Line. From the LEED Guide I have found this: "Calculate the average density of the area within a.-mile (400-meter) radius of the project building. If the density, expressed in terms of floor-area ratio (FAR) is less than 1.5, the project is ineligible for the zero lot line path" where... "floor-area ratio (FAR) is the density of nonresidential land use, exclusive of structured parking,... |

Does anyone know what the progressive sampling protocol is? Our building has 2,000 apartments and we intend to sample one apartment per floor if we can't access this information--but its only a guess. Thanks for any assistance you can provide! IEQp2 ... |

Exterior Noise Monitoring- Rural RoadsSchools-NC-v4 EQp3: Minimum acoustic performanceposted by Leanne Conrad on May 30, 2018, 1:55 pmIn building a rural school, our address is technically a highway (HWY 25 to be exact). However, this is a rural road and has very little traffic and therefore is not a significant noise source. I understand the external noise monitoring requirement for urban highways that see lots of traffic, but in this situation, other than at school pickup and drop off times, there may only be 5 cars all day. Are we still required to conduct the exterior noise monitoring? EQp3 Canada ... |
