LEED v4 BD+C- WEp1 Outdoor Water Use Reduction: Calculation of trees area

understands the person completing this calculator will be making their best judgement of where to draw the line between different planting zones. I think the approach Emily mentioned here, to count the same way as you do in the Open Space/Habitat credits, makes a lot of sense just to keep consistency between credits.  Log in or register to post comments ...

Does a product containing 0 g/L VOC still need emissions testing?

Dave Hubka Practice Leader- Sustainability EUA LEEDuser Expert 530 thumbs up May 16, 2023- 9:51 am yes, unless it is inherrently non-emitting.  Log in or register to post comments Craig Graber Associate Director Atelier Ten LEEDuser Premium Member 23 thumbs up May 18, 2023- 1:56 pm Gretchen, I agree with Dave. The reason is that (as I understand it) there are allowable exclusions when manufacturer's calculate the VOC content (g/L) using the EPA Reference Method 24. So a product with "Zero VOC" content may actually contain VOCs, which would show up in emissions testing. Log...

what is considered open space?

I want to make sure that my calculations are correct for this credit. The example 2 on Reference Guide about this credit doesn't take the Lawn into the account. Is this true? So neither the sidewalks or the parking lot nor the grass area is considered an Open Space anymore? Thanks in advance. SSc3 ...

Emily Purcell Sustainable Design Lead CannonDesign LEEDuser Expert 369 thumbs up August 1, 2019- 1:59 pm Hi Alicia, we had the indoor plumbing fixtures portion of this credit denied on a recent project for the same reason. On discussing further with GBCI it was noted that there wasn't really a rule of thumb we could use, it would just have to actually be separately metered. From that conversation it sounded like the reviewer had (understandably!) gotten a lot of pushback on this approach, and they'd sent that up the chain of command, but ultimately the approach has not changed....

Hannah Walter SMITH SECKMAN REID, INC LEEDuser Premium Member 1 thumbs up June 17, 2022- 1:00 pm I have the same question. The v4.0 calculator lacks columns to enter, EPDs, HPDs, Declare label. Which I have a lot of. I asked USGBC and they said, "Currently, teams should use the v4 O+M Purchasing Calculator available at https://www.usgbc.org/resources/purchasing-calculator. This calculator includes options that align with the different options under MRc Purchasing for v4.1 O+M. Refer to the Instructions tab of the calculator for more information." I responded that this is incorrect...

Group approach- Minimum requirement compliance

NC-v4 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance
posted by Luis Andrade on May 2, 2023, 12:54 pm

Hello everyone! I am working on 2 buildings that are registered in one project following the group approach. We did not report the buildings seperatly on the MEPC in the first submittal and, as such, the GBCI reviewer just commented that we needed to do that (report multiple buildings on the MEPC) and to "show that each building independently complies with the prerequisite requirement. It is noted that to document both buildings in one MEPC, line 20 in the General Information tab shall be updated to state yes to multiple buildings." When filling out the MEPC, we do notice some...

Landscape Exterior lighting LPD Mandatory provisions

NC-v4 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance
posted by Julio Fernandez Amodia on Apr 25, 2023, 7:27 am

Hi there, I am currently calculating the power allowance for exterior lighting in a school project. In this case, there is quite a lot of exterior spaces and landscaping. Almost one-third of the trees are illuminated, however, I am not sure which could be an acceptable and effective way to measure the illuminated area for the LPD allowance calculation. As per now I have considered "approximately" the area that will "feel" illuminated. That is about 3m around the trees lighting. I could not find any example nor information about how to perform this calculation. Have you addressed...
