All or the Main street frontages 1:1.5

Pilot-Credits PC14: Walkable Streets
posted by Ian McCall on Jun 15, 2015, 7:58 am

Dear All, The PC 14 credit description states that “All street frontages have a minimum building-height-to-street center-line ratio of 1:1.5”. I have a new building in a very dense city (Paris) where the main entrance and two other facades meet the 1:1.5 requirements while the secondary entrance / façade does not. Is it possible to be awarded this pilot credit? Regards, Ian PC14 France ...

Questions about High-rise residential LEED Energy Modeling

NC-2009 EAc1: Optimize Energy Performance
posted by Tommy Xing on Jul 1, 2015, 3:11 pm

Hi I’m working on a High-rise residential LEED energy modeling project now. I have a question regarding the lighting. I’m using Energypro, and found out the lighting saving is zero from the Title-24 LEED calculation no matter what the design input is. Does that mean we cannot count on lighting savings for residential project? 2nd question: the first floor of this project is retail area. MEP wise, it’s for future use. So there is no design on that area. But this is a LEED NC project and the retail area is included in the architectural design, and will be included in the LEED scope. For this kind...

Project Location: United States Trying to determine for EPD tab within BPDO calculator, if the bottom-line of Weighted EPD value needs to be 20 or as long as 20 products from 5 manufacturer's are noted, compliance is met? Also how would a UL PCR for Insulated Metal panels be classified- my hunch is Industry-wide, but seeking advise from others, below is the PCR link http://industries.ul.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/09/IMPandMetalC... NC-2009 SSc4.3: Alternative transportation - low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles
posted by SIG - Sustainability Main Account on Aug 3, 2015, 2:16 pm

Lots of comments and threads have occurred here regarding combining FE/LE spaces and Electric Fueling Charging stations. FYI: A CIR has been posted (as of April 1, 2015) and it offers a prescription for how to do this. See CIR ID#10410 Ruling: "Projects may achieve this credit using a combination of Option 1 and Option 2. Preferred parking for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles must be provided for 5% of the total parking capacity, as required in Option 1. Fueling stations may be substituted for preferred parking spaces to meet this threshold such that one fueling station is equivalent...

What constitutes a building entrance?

We are working on a tenant fit-up on the 8th floor of a downtown building which sits on a corner. The first floor has several retail establishments with direct street access. From what I can gather even though it is zero lot-line we still need the 25' signage. Do we need to post no smoking signage next to all of the retail doors or just the entrances into the building? Definition of street frontage

Pilot-Credits PC14: Walkable Streets

What is the right definition of street frontage? In our project we have the site surrounded by streets on three sides, but on all three sides there are public sidewalks and green areas with trees between the site and the streets. And between one side of the building an the street there is also a lot of open space on our site. Which of the facades should be considered as street facade? Only the one with the main entry or all of them? PC14 Germany ...

Line of sight at intersections

Hello- has anyone had an issue with Requirement #9: where should the 50' tree spacing start from a busy intersection? We have an urban building with 3 facades, and the required vehicular line of sight we have been given by our civil engineer pushes the street trees over 50' off the street corners, leaving a fair amount of "non-tree" area at those corners. Thanks! PC14 United States ...

Waste Oil Fuel

NC-2009 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance
posted by Michael Daly on Feb 10, 2016, 2:37 pm

I am working on a project that has two parts to the building. There is an office component and a shop component. The office is going to be heated and cooled with a VRF system. The shop will not be air conditioned but will just be heated 100% from a waste oil burner. The oil is used from the trucks that they use at the facility. Does anybody have any experience with something like this? How is this handled regarding energy modeling, etc.? The cost of the fuel should be 100% associated with the trucks that used the fuel. The shop portion of the building is getting the benefit of zero cost fuel. Any...

Our project, a 200,000 sqft CS office tower (much more to the 20% of the total area) shares 3 levels of underground parking lot with two other buildings (Movie theater, shops, restaurants). All buildings are physically and administrative detached, but all of them over the underground parking lot. All buildings have independent administration and utilities, including water and energy metering. We...
