CI-2009 SSc3.1:Credit Alternative Transportation—Public Transportation Access

Pick up and Drop Facility

We have a CI project which is basically a part of a factory development. The Admin Building is going for the LEED CI rating. We have provided Pick up and drop facility for the occupants of our admin building. This accommodates 100% of the occupants of the building along with the visitors who visit the admin building. Considering the fact that the building is primarily a part of a factory area, it is beyond the city perimeters and hence to ensure the safety of our occupants we have provided pick-up and drop facility. The credit intent stresses on the need to reduce the pollution and land development effects due to automobile use. By following this strategy in the project, we are serving the credit intent in the following manner: a)We are discouraging the occupants from opting for single occupancy vehicle use b)Reducing the energy demand for transportation and associated green house gases emission c)Reducing the land required for parking lot and thus allowing more area for landscaping d)Reducing the infrastructure requirement for parking and hence reducing the storm water runoff and the HI effect. Now that we are serving the credit intent as well as the environmental issues related to the credits, are we eligible for achieving this credit points?
