Providing a clarification narrative?

October 1, 2012

As part of my review comments I have been asked to provide clarification narratives for several MEP related credits.

Notably EAp3 has no required uploads, so I can't upload a narrative document.

How can I provide these explanations to our reviewer?
Give it to the project administrator (architect) to deal with?

PI form1

September 27, 2012

Igreetings.
I wonder if you can help me with a question regarding the PIform1.
this PI form1 explains that must share information, as the project is in Peru and applies C & S do not consider option 1 or option 2, so I select the option 3 format approved, it displays an option to upload a file to which this signature and date Owners with PI Form1 fragments.

This causes problems because the project was planned so that the design phase is in charge of a company, the construction phase is in charge by a different company and a different team make the supervision of the entire process for LEED certification, once the building will be sold commercial areas within this and include assigned a document in which all have full control over their areas purchased and partial control over the common areas, if the condition of this PI is to document Form1 energy consumption data (electricity and water) in the next five years and that the person in charge of the building in the years to sign this document on LEEDONLINE load, as might be done?, how could I proceed? if it is not certain who is in charge as the owner during the following years.

LEED Reviewers

September 26, 2012

I am curious if there is a list of companies that are subcontracted by USGBC/GBCI for reviewing LEED Projects.

Basically I would like to find out if the GBCI alone reviews all LEED Projects or if they subcontract out review of some LEED Projects (similar to how some city councils sub out review of permit set drawings). If the latter is true, is there a list of such companies?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Submiting a new credit during a clarification

September 26, 2012

I did a split review under V2.2 and I'm now in Construciton submittal but the reviewers have asked for clarifications. It seems possible to add a design credit not orginally pursued at this time - I assigned it using LEED online. Is this indeed true? Also, it appears one of the ID credits pursued and needing a clarification is not possible. Can I also just re-submit something different as replacement for the ID credit instead of addressing the clarification?

LEED AP v4

September 25, 2012

Robert, no deadline has been announced. As you may have heard, LEED v4 isn't being launched until 2013, assuming a successful member ballot. I can't imagine that the credential will be updated before then.

Definition of "existing transit service" for SLL Credit 3

Definition of "existing transit service" for SLL Credit 3

September 22, 2012

Greetings forum.

My next question is simple enough: what is the distinction between an "existing service" and a "planned service" for the purposes of identifying an eligible stop to qualify the development for SSLc3?

What specifically does the "service" entail? Are we talking simply about the routes and service levels as defined by daily trips? Does it not include the actual alignment and the stops?

I ask this because my project is temporarily diverting a bus route and its stop areas during construction. My project, of course, is radically altering the street network. The alignment will be restored somewhat similarly to its former shape but the stops are now in quite different locations than they were formerly, and in fact, the transit agency requested an extra stop on the main thoroughfare adjacent to the development, which we will construct. Within a year, the new streets will be in place for the transit service to run again through the site.

Obviously, I would think that you would base the 1/4 mile walk distance on the new location of the stops, technically "planned" right now, not the former locations, correct? Has the "existing service" been disqualified because we altered the alignment and stops of the service? Does the extra stop we added qualify as an eligible "existing service" stop?

Any rules for certifying attached buildings as one building?

Any rules for certifying attached buildings as one building?

September 21, 2012

Hello All,

We have two buildings which are attached on the first level (park and some shops). Management and mechanical systems are seperate. Can we certify two buildings as one building because they are connected on the first level?

Thank you very much.

LEED gym on campus

September 16, 2012

Hi,

I'm new here so apologies if this question has been raised elsewhere already. Couple of queries regarding a campus gym that is freestanding on 2 sides, and connected via corridor with other buildings on the other 2 sides. Currently the gym is air-conditioned, and the intent is to add facade openings and a high volume low velocity fan to use the gym in mixed-mode.
The floor area of the gym is 1000m2 so more than the min. 93m2. Although the gym is less than 2% of the entire campus, the LEED project boundary will be defined around the gym only so it exceeds the min. 2% building to site area.

1. MPR: major facade and HVAC changes: Can this gym go for LEED new construction, given these minor facade changes and change in HVAC operation strategy?
2. MPR: project has to be a building in it's entirity: Can this gym go for LEED new construction, given that on 2 sides it's connected to another building via a corridor?

Thanks!

Non-certifiable building within LEED campus boundary

Non-certifiable building within LEED campus boundary

September 13, 2012

We have a campus composed of 5 buildings where one of them (P40) does not meet MPR 4: minimum floor area requirement of 1000sqft. All 5 buldings are within the property line, which we were willing to consider as the LEED campus boundary. Therefore, P40 is also within the LEED campus boundary. We are seeking to certifiy the 4 buildings independently, and up until this point we were not considering to certify P40 because it doesn't meet MPR4. However, another discussion going on in WEp1 forum made me wonder whether P40 should be somehow considered because it is within the LEED campus boundary...can anyone shed a light?

Thanks!
