GIBp1 & GIBc1 - Which rating systems are eligible to qualify?

September 12, 2012

Greetings! Does anyone in the forum have experience qualifying buildings as "certified green" for GIBc1 credit with rating systems other than USGBC's? If so, which non-USGBC programs do you know are eligible or likely to qualify?

My understanding is that ANSI is an IAF accreditation body, which would mean ANSI Accredited Standard Developers are eligible. That would mean Green Building Initiative's Green Globes and NAHB's ICC 700 National Green Building Standard are qualifying rating systems. Has anyone hit any snags using buildings certified by one of these rating systems in qualifying square footage to meet GIBc1? Any issues to think about?

Leed NC 2009 - documents to translate in english for reviews

September 10, 2012

Hello,
I'm working on my first certified leed project. My buildings is in France and all documents are written in french. I would like to know which documents need to be translate in english for the two reviews (design and construction), in order to estimate the cost of this translation.
Do we have to translate only the explanation of the answer to the credit, or also the specifications for the work, the study reports etc.. ?

Thank you in advance for your answer

General Usage Type

September 10, 2012

We have a C&S project that consists for 80% of office space and 20% service area. The layout of the future office and service areas is a projection of how future tenants might organize the space.
In the basement of the building we have showers, a utility room and several technical spaces for equipment. Are the showers to be considered supporting spaces of the office spaces and sevice spaces. Can we include them in the definition of office spaces? What with the utility room and technial rooms. Are they to be considered as "other space" or do we include them as anciliary to the office and/or service spaces?
Please advice. Thanks

Table PIf3-3 Total Daily Occupancy

September 7, 2012

I have read several questions/ replies in the forum, but am still unclear. Some background: We have a 70k warehouse attached to a 20k office. The entire facility has 12 FTEs. The warehouse gets an average of 3 deliveries/ pickups a day. Periodically, a training class for up to 60 people is held in the office space. When it comes to the data to be input to PIf3-3, the peak transients data to be input is obviously 60, but what is the daily average transient? Is it the 3 delivery/ pick ups or is it an average of the peak transient load? I have read conflicting responses. Thanks in advance for your help.

Plf3-3 FTE's

Plf3-3 FTE's

September 5, 2012

Just got my LEED review back, here is my dilemma, for a Convention Center we calculated FTE's with consideration to dark days, Set up days, Move-in/Move-out days, and Event Days taking into consideration Exhibitors in the building as well. We have a full time staff of 19, but when I do the occupancy figures my total FTE is 258. Of course this dose not compute when you look at trip reduction. Does anyone have suggestions for a better way to look at this worksheet. I have been very frustrated with it. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Change of project

September 3, 2012

Hi! We have a project registered for LEED NC 2009 but now the idea is to change the project (from a hotel to an office building) and we would like to certify as C&S. I understand that for that specific issue I have to contact USGBC. Is it right? Probably it will change name of the project too, is it possible?
The biggest problem is that the works may be stopped for at least 6 months, I don´t know what we should do because we had the CES plan but now we wouldn´t be working at all... what should we do in this case? shall we document anything?
Thank you very much!

Minimum Occupancy Compliance (EBOM v4 form)

September 3, 2012

I have three time periods listed in the table and have filled in all the "blank" spaces with "0". The first time period is 100% occupied, the second is 98% and the third is 95%.

I am receiving an error message that "The sum of the fully occupied, partially occupied and vacant area for each row must equal the total regularly occupiable gross square footage."

I've checked the math multiple times and deleted the rows and re-entered the data. The error message reappears as soon as I enter the first line with partial occupancy.

We are now ready to submit for final review (the Total leased gross area on the form was modified to harmonize with the areas in EAp2 based on review comments. The first submission did not have an error on the form.)

I've contacted GBCI via the on-line form but have not received a response and do not want to hold up submission. Has anyone seen this problem before.

LEED Guidance for Campuses and Multiple Buildings

Football pitches

August 30, 2012

Sorry to repost the question anyone out there have any suggestions please?

We have registered a campus level project (football Academy) with multiple buildings using 2010 AGMBC with the aspiration of a single Certification for the entire development.

The site includes 2 smaller training buildings/stadium, 2 central training buildings /stadium. It also consists of 2 outdoor football pitches within the stadiums as well as 4 outdoor football pitches around the stadiums.

A. Do we have to include these football pitches into the master site GFA?
B. Do we have to include the pitches into LEED Project boundary?
C. If excluded from the LEED project boundary can we still take them into consideration while calculating for the following 2 credits?
SSc5.1: Site Development - Protect or Restore Habitat
SSc5.2: Site Development - Maximize Open Space

Thanks

LEED Guidance for Campuses and Multiple Buildings

Multiple Buildings and Registration

August 29, 2012

I have 2 office buildings for EBOM-I talked to someone about the registration and Part 2 of that document is not ready to use and this person said there was no known date that it would be released. Since i am not a member i am having to pay $1,200 each per building and $1,200 fr master credit registration-total of $3,600. Even members would pay for each building and the master credits registration all as a separate entity.
In looking at the master credits available to my project three of them are prerequisites so maybe the campus/master credits would not be worth it.

LEED ND GIB credit 9 - heat island redcuction

August 29, 2012

Hi everyone,

For option 1, non roof measures, to measure the area shaded I am doing a shadow study at the prescribed times.

But the Reference Guide makes it seem like only shade from trees or shade structures can be counted towards this.

If I have driveways that are completely shaded by buildings, surely this shaded are would count, correct? We positioned the driveways strategically on the north side of the buildings to take advantage of their shade.

Thanks
Tyler
