"Single Site" requirement for a Master Site?

"Single Site" requirement for a Master Site?

December 15, 2014

We are working on a 30+ acre medical campus for a single developer. There will be a total of 9 buildings in this development, and all buildings will pursue LEED certification. I am trying to determine if this site would qualify for the LEED Campus Guidance and in particular a Master Site? The Guidance states "All buildings or spaces are located on a single site, as defined in the LEED Minimum Program Requirements for the applicable rating system." I'm trying to determine the meaning of the "single site" since each building will be on difference parcels each leased to different entities and not one contiguous site. This may be an exercise in terminology, but I wanted to be sure I am interpreting this correctly.

DES Options application restriction

December 11, 2014

We are certifying a Hospital according to LEED 2009 for Healthcare yet to be registered. The hospital is part of a larger scale project which is not being LEED certified as a whole (we are certifying the hospital building only). A new district heating and cooling plant is being built as part of the larger project and will serve most buildings of the project including the hospital. The district plant is located outside the LEED boundary of the Hospital. Could you please confirm that both Option 1 and Option 2 of the DES guideline (issued on August 13 2010) are available to the project? Can you confirm there no restrictions to this choice between the two options due to the project owner is one, in other words the same owner for the hospital and the district plant?

Changing Innovative Design Credits during Review Process

December 4, 2014

We are in the process of submitting a project for LEED construction credit documentation. Being unfamiliar with this process, will there be an opportunity to pursue an alternative ID credit if the initial comments during the review appear to suggest we will not meet the requirements for achieving the ID credit originally attempted?

Most Downloaded LEEDuser Documentation Templates, Calculators, and Samples

The official title of our repository of templates, tools, calculators, spreadsheets, and samples that you can use on your LEED projects is our Documentation Toolkit.

But I call it The Jackpot. When my colleague Nadav Malin showed his then-12-year-old daughter an earlier version of LEEDuser.com, she thought the forum, the guidance, the FAQs, the checklists, the credit language was all great. But her remark, "Oh—there's the jackpot," immediately summed up the value of the Doc Toolkit.

Cheat sheet for the most popular "Jackpot" items

Following are the most popular items in our Documentation Toolkits—organized for LEED-NC and LEED-EBOM projects, respectively. All of these items are focused on LEED 2009. As LEED v4 becomes more popular, and we stock our toolkit with more essential items, we'll update this resource.

If you are looking to take full advantage of your LEEDuser membership today, I recommend downloading these items and sharing this link with your team.

Of course, this is just a small fraction of what we offer on LEEDuser. For credit-by-credit resources, see the Doc Toolkit tab in each credit. You can get there from the page on our site that lists all rating systems and credits.

new files after D&C Preliminary Review

November 27, 2014

In response to the preliminary review, before final review, Should I erase all wrong documents and just keep the new updated files? I have different situations, but one is in a written text I added some information. Is it correct to upload all fixed document or just the new few words in a new narrative?

Thanks in advance

We've received our final review report and will have to appeal a decision on EAp2, which also affects two credits. Can anyone tell me how long we should expect to wait for the results of this appeal?

Do I qualify? Lots of details, hopefully helpful How and whom...

October 25, 2014

We have been working on a project for a couple of years. From the ground up, I have been trying to make green choices, however, we did not have any "Integrated Project Planning"
This project was initially supposed to have been a gut and renovate, but due to issues with foundation and other building issues, all we ending up keeping was one floor and ceiling/roof and a window wall in one room (family room with cathedral ceilings, which we love!)
I have a few questions...
We have a stream on the property, and we are not building any closer, and using the previous foundation on that side of the house. I dont beleive it is 100ft from the stream (is this a simple edge of water, or daylight)

Some of the steps we are using are:
Spray foam insulation (all except floor)
Low VOC paint
Heat Pump heating/cooling
Solar (shooting for 80%)
All elec home (no gas available)
Graywater recycling is planed, but may be put on hold
LED lighting through out
Radiant heating (hydronic, powered by tankless w/h supplemented by solar hot water)
Tankless water
Captured rain water
All appliances are Energy Star
My flooring will be FSA Ipe
Landscaping will mostly be native or existing with irrigation from captured rainwater (possibly supplemented by stream water-Is this OK??)
We have added very little to the non permeable (800 sqft)
Lot size is 1.25 acres and home is living:2800 sqft (with shop/storage of 1800sqft - but this does not qualify as a garage as per building/planing dept due to flooring)

I had asked my contractor to recycle and document wastes, but I don't believe he has.
will we be able to get certified for LEED for homes?
How do I go about getting certified, some of the sheet wall is up, but almost all walls have at least one side open still.

Where can I find a certification team/person in Alameda County, in California?

Thanks!
Bruce

Can the architect of the project do the LEED for Homes?

October 23, 2014

Hello. I am having trouble tracking down eligibility information for LEED for Homes.

The reference guide says that "Each project must register through a designated LEED for Homes Provider"

Can the architect be the LEED for Homes Provider or does it have to be a separate 3rd party entity?

Thanks

LEED: Homes eligibility?

LEED: Homes eligibility?

October 22, 2014

Hello - We are starting major construction of our home, consisting of a gut-reno of the first floor; addition of a 2nd floor plus attic and porch; new mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, windows, and doors; removal of all interior walls and ceilings; replacement of all siding and addition of insulation; and bringing the basement into the conditioned space and fixing water problems. Basically, it's a new house except for the foundation, and one partial exterior wall.

Do we qualify for LEED: Homes? It seems like we should, but in going through the flow chart tool on LEEDonline for selecting a certification program, it all comes down to how I answer the question, "Is the addition physically distinct from the rest of the building?" If I answer "yes", it says we qualify. If I answer "no" it says we do not. But I cannot find clarification of what this means.

Thanks! (Posted in LEED Rating Selection Forum as well.)
