We have been working on a project for a couple of years. From the ground up, I have been trying to make green choices, however, we did not have any "Integrated Project Planning"
This project was initially supposed to have been a gut and renovate, but due to issues with foundation and other building issues, all we ending up keeping was one floor and ceiling/roof and a window wall in one room (family room with cathedral ceilings, which we love!)
I have a few questions...
We have a stream on the property, and we are not building any closer, and using the previous foundation on that side of the house. I dont beleive it is 100ft from the stream (is this a simple edge of water, or daylight)
Some of the steps we are using are:
Spray foam insulation (all except floor)
Low VOC paint
Heat Pump heating/cooling
Solar (shooting for 80%)
All elec home (no gas available)
Graywater recycling is planed, but may be put on hold
LED lighting through out
Radiant heating (hydronic, powered by tankless w/h supplemented by solar hot water)
Tankless water
Captured rain water
All appliances are Energy Star
My flooring will be FSA Ipe
Landscaping will mostly be native or existing with irrigation from captured rainwater (possibly supplemented by stream water-Is this OK??)
We have added very little to the non permeable (800 sqft)
Lot size is 1.25 acres and home is living:2800 sqft (with shop/storage of 1800sqft - but this does not qualify as a garage as per building/planing dept due to flooring)
I had asked my contractor to recycle and document wastes, but I don't believe he has.
will we be able to get certified for LEED for homes?
How do I go about getting certified, some of the sheet wall is up, but almost all walls have at least one side open still.
Where can I find a certification team/person in Alameda County, in California?
Thanks!
Bruce
