LEED Credit Timeline

March 18, 2015

During the process of our split submission information was submitted to GBCI that affected both a prerequisite as well as a credit we were pursuing. The result of the Design Preliminary Submission was that both the prerequisite and associated credit came back as Pending with comments outlining the additional work to be done to achieve both. The result of the Design Final Submission was that the prerequisite came back as Awarded and the credit was listed as Denied. For a number of reasons the Appeals process was never utilized to address the denied credit.

Fast forward a year and I have inherited the LEED submission and am trying to determine what action can be taken to address this denied credit. It seems that in the Final Design Submission criteria in the energy model that was pertinent to both the prerequisite and credit was calculated differently between the two. The project has been built as it was designed and so there are no design changes to warrant resubmission, but it is the manner in which the data was reported that seems to have caused the discrepancy.

My question is that since both the credit and prerequisite were reviewed 2x in the Design Applications and the time period to Appeal has long since passed, am I able to resubmit for the denied credit (and possibly the awarded prerequisite) with the Construction Preliminary Application? If the window for an Appeal between the Design and Construction Submissions has passed do I have any additional opportunity to earn that credit?

LEED ND with Buildings Under Construction

March 16, 2015

If a site has a number of buildings already under construction and substantially complete, the design for most of which does not consider LEED requirements, and the client decides to pursue LEED ND how are these buildings classified? can they be considered as existing buildings?

Re-submission for Design Review

March 12, 2015

We are currently working on a project that had submitted documentation for Design review. We were not on board then. After the review, the project went on a hold for a period of almost 3 years. Now the project is active and is interested in completing the certification. The project is currently under construction.
Now my question is can we submit the credits again for Design Review before the Final Review?

DES heating and cooling plant using a unique heat pump

March 10, 2015

Hi
We work on a project pursuing Leed C&S 2009 certification in France. The building is connected to a heating and cooling DES (one facility), and we consider option 2 for calculations regarding credits EAp2 and EAc1. This DES is supplied only by electricity (chilled and hot water are produced simultaneously by the same group of heat pumps with a sea water loop as a heat/cold sink).
According to Ashrae 90.1 appG and Treatment of DES v2.0, the heat plants would be :
- onsite gas boiler (systems 7) for the baseline
- virtual DES plant which uses electricity
It sounds strange to count, for heating consumption, gas rate for baseline and electricity rate for proposed. (There is no gas in the proposed).
Thanks for your help

VERTICALLY ATTACHED BUILDINGS

March 4, 2015

Hello,

I work on a building which contains 2 sections and only one of them would like to go with LEED EBOM. The first section (which wants leed certification) is principally offices. The other is an hotel, is located on the top of the entire building, and is owned by a third party.
Nevertheless, there are mechanical areas in the 2 sections but both of them serve the 2 sections of the entire building.
The 2 sections are seperatly metered.
My question is about the area calculations. How should I calculate the mechanical areas? Should I use an area ration of these ones equal to the total energy consuption ratio?

Thanks for your help and for any advice about hese kind of attached buildings.

LEED CI - deadline for submitting documentation

February 24, 2015

We registered the Project for LEED CI. A space of about 2000 sqft. As the space was small the client was able to outfit the space in 3 weeks time and occupied the space immediately after. The space was not fully commissioned when the client occupied the space. I have 2 questions.
1. What is the lapse time for submitting documents for LEED CI, after the space is occupied?
2. Is there an issue in occupying the space, if the space was not fully commissioned?

Getting Buildings (inside certified Neighborhood)LEED certified

February 21, 2015

Dear Experts
I have project outside the US consist of 508 building inside one development (more than 190 acre) where 90% of these buildings will be residential but it will include basic services (bank, schools , mosques ..etc)
the developer is looking to certify this development under the LEED rating system , we think about the neighborhood rating system for the whole development but the question now and in addition to the LEED ND certification , do we able to certify the 508 building under any LEED rating system for the purpose of getting a certification for each building ?

if yes , can you advise under which rating system should we register this big number of buildings
Thanks

dealership building and a detached carwash

February 17, 2015

The project in question consists of a dealership bldg, a detached carwash, and a fuel storage & generator building (3 separate buildings); do they qualify as multiple buildings or a single building for certification purposes?
