Bill Swanson Sr. Electrical Engineer Integrated Design Solutions LEEDuser Expert 734 thumbs up March 17, 2022- 10:47 am Grade level is a height of 0 meters.  If the highest fixture is 5 M then the grid goes from 0 M to 15 M. Shifting the grid to the centerline of roads helps a lot. Because of how strict this is, the BUG option is easier to document compliance. Log in or register to post comments ...

Compliance of furniture with COM (customer's own material)

NC-v4.1 EQc2: Low-emitting materials
posted by Renee Shirey on Mar 31, 2022, 8:50 pm

Could someone please confirm my understanding of how COM fabric or laminat would affect compliance?   My understanding is that when a furniture assembly is tested, it is with their standard line of finishes (textile, laminate, etc).  If we have selected to use COM for the furniture, that furniture would need to go through testing with the COM to ensure compliance, correct?  I just wanted to make sure I couldn't pair together the certificates for the standard product and also include certificates for the COM finishes. Thanks everyone! EQc2 ...

Uplights in an LZ0 zone

NC-v4.1 SSc6: Light Pollution Reduction
posted by Ellis John Mandia on Apr 11, 2022, 8:36 am

Can the percentage values prescribed in the "Maximum allowed percentage of total luminaire lumens emitted above horizontal" be taken as time-related? For example, if we have uplights in a LZ0 project and we provide a strategy to turn off these lights before curfew (ex: by 10PM the lumens emitted shall be zero), can that action satisfy the requirement? LEED Credit impact- On site electricity provision from LPG

NC-v4 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance
posted by Robert Yates on May 16, 2022, 5:43 am

Hi I have a site that does not have enough power from the local grid so is considering a self contained LPG based generation on site. I'm just wondering if this will have an impact on any of the credits because it will have a significant impact on the carbon intensity of the whole project. The site will use a lot more power due to the onsite conversion from LPG to electricity, but the building itself will not use much more (slight increase due to transmission losses). Does anybody have any experience of this? EAp2 ...

Window Contacts and ASHRAE90.1 / Innovation Credits?

NC-v4 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance

Marcus Sheffer LEED Fellow 7group / Energy Opportunities LEEDuser Expert 5903 thumbs up August 24, 2022- 7:47 pm I am not aware of any requirements along these lines. If you want to claim energy savings for this strategy it should be submitted as an exceptional calculation. You will need to define the baseline, which I assume would be without these switches, but also based on some kind of assumptions about how often the windows are opened. This assumption should be justified based on some sort of study of dorm window use. Let us know how you make out. Log in or register to post comments ...

BPDO Material Ingredients: required to report material cost if pursuing Option 1?

Tommy Linstroth CEO Green Badger LEEDuser Expert 126 thumbs up September 2, 2022- 10:06 am Adam You don't need the cost for the BPDO calculator to earn EPD or MIR credits. However, I'm guessing you'll have a lot of overlap with those products and low-emitting, where you may need the actual costs if something isn't compliant. Log in or register to post comments ...

Calculation Rainwater Amount V4 vs V2009

NC-v4 SSc4: Rainwater management
posted by Anna Korinkova on Oct 10, 2022, 2:26 am

Hello everyone, I have managed to read trough the comments in the forum and from what i have read i understood that the calculation that indicates the amount of water to be managed on site should be taken from the LEED V2009 SSc6.1 Credit.  Meaning even if a project is setting out to achieve LEED V4.0 we use LEED v2009 calculation method: V.=P*Rv*A/12  My question is, do we then also need to prove that the tanks are going to be emptied after each storm, using storm interval of 3 days as LEED v2009 used? There is not a single line in LEED v4.0 guide about Drawdown rate, about emptying tanks before another...
