NC-v4.1 EQc2:Low-Emitting Materials

Compliance of furniture with COM (customer's own material)

Could someone please confirm my understanding of how COM fabric or laminat would affect compliance?

My understanding is that when a furniture assembly is tested, it is with their standard line of finishes (textile, laminate, etc).  If we have selected to use COM for the furniture, that furniture would need to go through testing with the COM to ensure compliance, correct?  I just wanted to make sure I couldn't pair together the certificates for the standard product and also include certificates for the COM finishes.

Thanks everyone!

This credit requires that all furniture VOC emissions testing be conducted in accordance with the ANSI/BIFMA 7.1–2011 Standard Test Method for Determining VOC Emissions from Office Furniture Systems, Components and Seating.  According to the Standard, "Testing can be conducted on representative component materials, component assemblies or on fully assembled products." Hmm. Suggest you contact your LEED Reviewer for guidance (and please let us know what they say!)
