VOC content requirement for adhesives and sealants

CI-v4 EQc2: Low-emitting materials
posted by Nadia Azzam on Apr 26, 2023, 9:36 pm

What are acceptable forms of documentation that satisfy the VOC content evaluation requirement for adhesives and sealants? lots of these prodcuts Technical or safety data sheets state something like the VOC limit is below x and is compliant with SCAQMD limits; however, many of them do not have test certificates that show the actual VOC content. Would the manufacturer's data sheet be sufficient to demosntrate compliance? EQc2 ...

Separate measurement of cold and hot lines for healthcare water uses

Healthcare-v4 WEc4: Water metering
posted by Mark Benson on Apr 26, 2023, 12:21 pm

For healthcare projects, projects must "install water meters in any five" water uses listed.  However, many of these water uses, such as dietary, laundry, laboratory, etc. include both cold and hot water lines.  Therefore, would separate meters on the cold and hot water lines for dietary department count as two of the five meters required?  If not, the credit could require 10 meters or more if the intent is to measure both cold and hot water use for these healthcare water uses. Zero Lot Line with required streetscape

NC-v4.1 MPR2: Must use reasonable LEED boundaries
posted by Elena Khoury on Apr 11, 2023, 11:42 am

Can streetscape can be excluded from a project boundary if it's required by municipality? For context, there's civil and landscape work that's occuring in front of my project that is required/funded by DPW, so it's showing up in our civil drawings. However, I would like to know if we can exclude that work so we can count the project as a zero lot line property. MPR2 ...

Wooded Area as open space?

NC-v4.1 SSc3: Open space
posted by Nadia Azzam on Apr 6, 2023, 4:52 pm

Would a wooded area with lots of trees count as open space for this credit? Our project is surrounded by wooded areas that are basically greenfield areas with trees. I am not sure if these are considered "physically accessible" but was wondering if these areas could count as "habitat area: preserved or created habitat that meets the criteria of SS Credit Protect or Restore Habitat and also includes elements of human interaction. These areas automatically meet the vegetation criteria of this credit." SSc3 U.S. and Canada ...

On-site Renewable Energy

Warehouses-NC-v4 EAc5: Renewable energy production

Hi all,  For a new construction warehouse project, going for LEED Platinum and LEED Zero Carbon: This new construction is build next to an existing building under the same owner. Only the new building is going for the LEED certifications. If solar panels are installed on the roof of the neighbour existing building and are connected to the new building, can their energy generation be considered as "on-site" renewable energy? Can this count for the Renewable Energy credit and the Zero Carbon balance?  Thank you EAc5 ...

Allen Cornett Sustainable Consultant INSPEC Sustainability Group LLC LEEDuser Premium Member 50 thumbs up March 25, 2023- 2:36 pm This sound like the ID+C rating system would be the most appropriate.  When in doubt we contact USGBC and they issue a case number via email so the particulars of the project can be provided and a determination made by USGBC.  Our office recently had a project who’s scope include a renovation to a portion of an existing building as well as transforming a portion of the existing parking lot to an exterior amenities area.  USGBC informed us that the ID+C rating system...
