Warehouses-NC-v4 EAc5:Renewable energy production

On-site Renewable Energy

Hi all,

For a new construction warehouse project, going for LEED Platinum and LEED Zero Carbon:

This new construction is build next to an existing building under the same owner. Only the new building is going for the LEED certifications.

If solar panels are installed on the roof of the neighbour existing building and are connected to the new building, can their energy generation be considered as "on-site" renewable energy? Can this count for the Renewable Energy credit and the Zero Carbon balance?

Thank you

Yes it can. As long as the system is owned by the same owner as the project and the solar system is in the same utility service territory it counts.
