Is LEED Online compatible with Windows 8?

February 20, 2013

I'm at Windows 8 and when I enter the LEED Online initial page it starts to beahve very weird...it moves, the dark ribbon from the top of the page goes down.

Does anyone know? Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Thanks

adding credits to review in DEsign Review

February 20, 2013

We have submitted a few number of credits on the Design Review from the whole credits related to the Design Phase, because the property wanted us to start and some aspects couldn't be solved on time.

After the first design review, we have some credits to clarify.
On the meantime, the rest of credits have been clarified and the property ask if we can include the rest of the design phase credits on the final design review.

I have tow questions regarding to this idea:
- If we apply for these credits and are denied, can we appeal to them on the construction review phase?
- If we want to include the new credits, maybe 25 business days is no enough to prepare all the new documentation needed. Do I need to contact GBCI to inform about it?

Title-24 and DES

Title-24 and DES

February 18, 2013

Hello, I have taken a look at Appendix B which includes Title-24 guidance within the District Thermal Energy LEED Guidance document. However, we had received the following reviewer comment and I just wanted to make sure that it's outdated. It seems to say that you cannot take credit for DES when using Title-24. Maybe I just need help in understanding: can you take credit for DES when using Title-24?

"The project team has stated that they have followed the document Required Treatment of District Thermal Energy in LEED-NC version 2.2 and LEED for Schools, version 1.0; (DES v1) dated May 28, 2008. In accordance with USGBC guidance, this approach should not be used with Title-24 modeling.; Projects with district energy plants that are documented using Title-24 2005 in lieu of ASHRAE 90.1-2007 are NOT required to follow the energy modeling guidance provided in the document "Treatment of District or Campus Thermal Energy in LEED V2 and LEED 2009 Design and Construction"; (DES v2) dated August 10, 2010 which can be accessed at: http://www.usgbc.org/ShowFile.aspx?DocumentID=7671.

However, Title-24 2005 does not allow credit for the efficiency of district energy systems. Therefore, if the project is taking credit for the efficiency of the district energy systems serving the project, then the DES v2 document referenced above must be followed in its entirety.

Please revise the model to follow the Option 2 requirements defined in the DES v2 document. Otherwise, confirm that the Proposed case plant inputs represent the default Title-24 inputs, and no central plant has been modeled for the Proposed case in the Energy Pro software. Update the form and Table 1.4.1 through 1.4.6. Attach Title-24 compliance forms (PERF-1, ECON-1, UTIL-1 and OLTG) as well as BEPS, BEPU and ES-D reports for the Baseline and Proposed cases to confirm correct modeling and reporting."

Anticipated Review Return Date Question

Anticipated Review Return Date Question

February 12, 2013

I haven't submitted for review in a very long time. Could someone confirm if the "anticipated return date" after my preliminary review is a hard date or just a recommendation? It will take longer than 9 days to get all our clarifications ironed out.

Do I need to formally submit for an extension or do I just respond in a few weeks when our response is ready?

Thanks!

Already certified project

LEED Guidance for Campuses and Multiple Buildings

Already certified project

February 12, 2013

i have a certified project under NC v 2009 it was registered on 5/30/2010 the certified project consist of

1- a building that consist of a ware house zone labour zone and administration zone

2- Three empty plots for future extension ( as in phase 1 extension , phase 2 extension and phase 3 extension ) each extension will consist of a ware house space building and will be supported throw the admin and labour zone in the main certified building

now the owner decided to go for LEED for the first phase so i need to register phase 1 extension , then in the future phase 2 ... etc , how can i identify the new LEED project boundaries for the three phases , or can i apply for AGMBC after the main project is already certified ?

Knowing that the LEED boundaries were first set to include the three phases + the certified building because of truck circulation and main entrance and exit of the project

Group Project Certification

Forum discussion

LEED Guidance for Campuses and Multiple Buildings

Group Project Certification

February 8, 2013

We have a project that comprises 2 office buildings, a parking garage, and a support building with seminar rooms and staff amenities. We have almost determined that a Group Project Certification is the best approach. However, I am confused about how the Group Project Certification will affect the prospects of this project achieving the credits that we have targted.

Specifically, this below is taken from the AGMB (Oct 2011 revision):

"A group project pursues one certification and rating for the entire group and must use the
credit specific documentation paths included in this guidance. Where credit documentation is site‐wide or aggregated from multiple buildings or spaces, points are awarded to the group based on the performance of the project as a whole. For credits documented on an individual building or space basis, points are awarded to the group BASED ON THE LOWEST PERFORMING BUILDING (caps are mine) except where noted (for example, EAc1) in the credit specific information in the appendices...."

It is unclear from Appendix A, which Credits are affected by this "Lowest Performing Building" stipulation. E.g., if the office buildings achieve IEQc8 , but the support building (which is only about 1/10th the size of the office buildings) does not, does it mean the entire project does not achieve those credits?

Thanks for any advice in this.

Is there a significant distinction between private vs public lavatories, or is the "Total Daily Uses" calculation sufficient given the correct Uses/Day (FTE, Transient, Retail Cust., Students)?

Public road in the middle of Master Site

Public road in the middle of Master Site

February 6, 2013

Hi!
We are working on a project in which there are 2 office buildings (both will seek LEED Certification) within the Master Site boundary, but it is separated in the middle by a public road. The entrance, registration area and lobby of the project is located on one of the buildings and there is a tunnel that connects both parts in order to get to the other building. I just wanted to confirm that this is valid for the Master Site, since the passage from one part to the other is completely safe and accesible.

Thanks!!

Green Power Requirement per DES Guidance

February 5, 2013

Could anyone help me understand the green power requirement for a project using energy model Option 1 for EA c1 per DES guidance, please?

I looked up page 18 on the DES document but not quite sure how to calculate the required green power contribution.
