VOC Range in Low-Emitting Calculator

NC-v4 EQc2: Low-emitting materials
posted by Agnieszka Rylska on Oct 24, 2017, 6:04 am

We received the documentation confirming that material which will be applied on site (steel elements in these specific case) has emission of VOC compliant with ISO 16000-9 following French legislation on VOC emission class labeling and has emissions scenario for ceilings A+. So the material meets EQc2 requirements. However, in Low-Emitting Calculator there is no option to enter A+ in TVOC Range column. What value should we apply in this section for material described above? Thank you in advance for answer. EQc2 ...

Nadav Malin CEO BuildingGreen, Inc. LEEDuser Expert 844 thumbs up October 23, 2017- 8:19 am Hi Agata, I'm not able to find the reference that you mention, but I can confirm that your suspicions are correct. GreenScreen is not related to ISO 14001, and you CANNOT use certification of compliance with 14001 as an indication that a product's contents have passed any GreenScreen List Translator screening. As we explain on the credit page under "LEEDuser's Viewpoint," Option 2 of this credit is very difficult to achieve right now, as so few products have GreenScreen assessments or C2C...

Rock Ridolfi Associate Engineering Economics, Inc. LEEDuser Expert 7 thumbs up April 21, 2016- 4:11 pm At this time the USGBC website does not list ISO 50001 as an alternative compliance path or Pilot Credit to take the place of EA prerequisites or credits on v4 projects. This may change in the future, but for now the GBCI would need to rule on accepting your recommended path.- Rock Log in or register to post comments Charalampos Giannikopoulos Senior Sustainability Consultant DCarbon LEEDuser Basic Member 84 thumbs up October 19, 2017- 10:22 am Has there been any update regarding ISO 50001...

Nadav Malin CEO BuildingGreen, Inc. LEEDuser Expert 844 thumbs up August 30, 2017- 12:18 am Hi Kristopher, I'm not familiar with that standard, but based on a quick look at the website it doesn't seem that it would apply. It doesn't claim to comply with the ISO 14001 series of standards that apply to LCA and EPD, and it doesn't reference building materials at all. All that aside, I'm not sure that printers would qualify as building products even if they did have a compliant EPD; they're not typically within a design and construction scope of work. Finished wood

CI-v4 EQc2: Low-emitting materials
posted by Devani PERERA on May 17, 2017, 9:18 am

A finished wood floor has been varnished off-site previous to installation in a office project. The varnish is unknown, so both the wood and varnish have been tested together for VOC emissions using the ISO 16000 standards. The results show that it is compliant to French VOC Labeling and is labelled Class A+. Under which category does this material has to be evaluated? do complementary emissions tests have to be done? should the wood and the varnish be tested separately? EQc2 France ...

ISO 21930:2017 has now been published. Am I correct that EPDs which have already been published in accordance with ISO 14025 and ISO 21930:2007 don't need to make any amendments? How about EPDs which are being prepared now and yet to be published shortly? And EPDs which are currently being looked at for some minor updates, such as the product names or the manufacturer's contact address. Do the LEED criteria specify any transition period for ISO 21930 requirements? MRc2 ...

Reinhard Oppl Independent consultant on VOC issues formerly with Eurofins Product Testing A/S LEEDuser Basic Member 329 thumbs up August 3, 2017- 8:51 am Hi Maria, French A+ class is based on ISO 16000, but not on AgBB. French A+ is good enough only for composite wood products. Any other compound has to fulfil AgBB which has more limits to comply with than A+ has. A+ plays a role only because LEED requires lower formaldehyde emissions than AgBB does. And one possibility to demonstrate such low formaldehyde emissions is French A+ label.
