NC-v4 MRc4:Building product disclosure and optimization - material ingredients

ID#100002123

Hello,

We received the document, confirming that the product manufacturer operates an environmental management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004. Accordingly to ID#100002123, the ISO 140001:2004 is treated as Green Screen Translator (this is what you can find on page 550 BD+C). I assume that the product manufactured by certified company meets the requirements of Option 2/GreenScreen VI.2 Benchmark. Nevertheless It sounds strange to me, as ISO 140001:2004 is related to environment strategies, not the material ingredients. I would be grateful if  anybody could explain these to me.

Hi Agata, I'm not able to find the reference that you mention, but I can confirm that your suspicions are correct. GreenScreen is not related to ISO 14001, and you CANNOT use certification of compliance with 14001 as an indication that a product's contents have passed any GreenScreen List Translator screening. As we explain on the credit page under "LEEDuser's Viewpoint," Option 2 of this credit is very difficult to achieve right now, as so few products have GreenScreen assessments or C2C certifications. Ok, just found the Addendum you mention, and I think I see where the confusion lies. Here's the addendum: https://www.usgbc.org/leedaddenda/100002123 That list of items to be added are just "Referenced Standards" for the credit, they are not being put forth as standards that can be used to meet any specific requirements. They were actually added to the list because they're included in the updated Guidance on how to comply with Option 3.
