AGBMC v2

November 1, 2011

I noticed that USGBC has released AGBMC v2, as of Oct 28, 2011. Is this new document in lieu of the long awaited AGBMC Part 2?

PI Form 3 - Unconditioned gross area

Is mechanical space that contains unit heaters but no other heating or cooling considered unconditioned area for the purposes of Table PIf3-1?

New building overlapping an existing LEED property boundary

New building overlapping an existing LEED property boundary

October 27, 2011

We are designing a new building on a site adjacent to an existing LEED v2.2 certified building (designed by another architect); both buildings are owned and operated by the same entitiy and there are multiple existing buildings (non LEED) and infrastructure. Recently, we recieved the LEED property boundary for the adjacent building and have found that our new building is currently designed partially within this boundary. Can we redefine or use a portion of the existing building's project boundary for our project without having follow the guidlines of the AGMBC? Currently there is no LEED Campus Boundary defined for this site. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Multiple buildings including residential

October 25, 2011

We would like to use the multiple buildings approach for an international project that includes a site with a hotel and one residential single family home which belongs to the owner of the hotel. The hotel is > 60% of the total square footage of the total square footage (hotel + home) Would this be possible considering LEED for Homes is not availabe internationally? Would the whole project be able to use LEED NC as a campus with 2 buildings?

Name Change in the Project

October 20, 2011

We have a project that we registered with one name and the client decided to change their company name when the project was complete. We are still in the process of filling out all the templates. We have some templates that were filled out and uploaded with the original name we registered the project with. Will we have to re-enter all the information in new templates or can we leave the templates we have filled out and uploaded with the old name?

"building floor area" and "conditioned square footage"

"building floor area" and "conditioned square footage"

October 19, 2011

Hello,

I've struggled for a while with the exact definition of various floor area related terms in LEED ND. Can anyone give me any guidance on the typical elements that are included and excluded in "building floor area" and "conditioned square footage"?

As far as I can tell, LEED ND does not provide a standard reference for these terms and they can vary pretty significantly from one jurisdiction to another if one uses local zoning or building codes as references.

Thanks,

Daniel

Campuses & Multiple Bldgs-Part 2 guidance coming by end of Oct.

October 19, 2011

Got this update forwarded from a USGBC rep:
"The updated guidance including group certification (what was Part 2) will be out at the end of October. However, we won't be able to certify projects under that guidance until the first quarter 2012 when the LEED Online portion launches."
Part 2 is described on the USGBC website in this way: "Part 2 (coming in 2011) will contain guidance to help project teams certify a group of buildings as a package where the entire building set will receive a single rating. These buildings may constitute an entire campus or be a subset of an existing campus."

LOv3 and Macs

LOv3 and Macs

October 18, 2011

As a Mac user, I am beyond frustrated with how long it's taken USGBC to make LOv3 compatible with Safari 5.1 (and Lion, although that doesn't affect me so much).

A few months ago, I was able to download and earlier version of Safari, which allowed me full use again of LOv3. Now, all of a sudden, I get the dreaded "plug-in missing" message when I try to access a credit form in a registered project in LOv3. Of course, there's no information provided as to which plug-in is missing, and Adobe Reader doesn't really tell me which might be missing.

To make matters worse, I happened to check my Safari version only to see that it's back to the 5.1 version that LOv3 still doesn't support. When I attempt to download an earlier version of Safari, the download gets interrupted telling me I need an earlier version of Mac OS X!

Can anyone out there help me? Pretty hard to work on projects without access to the credit forms.

Thank you

In my opinion, yes. Though I have not used it specifically in the field.

Changing peformance period after initial GBCI review

October 14, 2011

Is it acceptable to change the peformance period after an initial GBCI review? We have some comments that came back on our EBOM SSc2 & SSc3 initial reviews asking for documentation that environmentally preferred practices were used at least 20% of the time. We are pulling maintenance logs & invoices, but the inial peformance period was over a year and a half long. Is it acceptable to shorten the performance period for the final review so that it makes pulling documentation easier? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
