Defer After Initial Design Review

February 27, 2012

We recently received comments on our initial design review submission. On one of our credits, it was recommended by the reviewer that we defer the credit to the construction phase so that we can collect the remaining required documentation. My question is, how do we defer the credit at this point in the process? We are using LEED Online v2.

Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide!

FTE MULTIPLE SHIFTS

Calculating FTEs

FTE MULTIPLE SHIFTS

February 27, 2012

We are pursuing LEED NC 2009. We are designing a call centre office building which will be operated 24 hours on three consecutive 8 hours shift work. The total building users in one shift is 3090 persons with No transients, visitors or residents in the building. Please note that consecutive shift would not start until the previous shift finishes.
When we attempt to calculate the FTE and Daily occupancy – things get extremely confusing, How do we determine this in this case? Can someone help me in this calculation
Is shift overlap should be considered for calculating the required number of Bike racks, changing rooms and showers, and if yes do we count the entire second shift or just a percentage of it ???? (Remember that no overlap in work time, but maybe second shift employees reach building before earlier shift employees leave,,, suppose they arrive with bikes)
Does anyone have similar experience with such complex occupancy projects.

We have finished uploading all the documentation for the Design Submittal and marked all credits "Completed". How shall we inform GBCI that we're done so that they could start the review?
Please note, that this is LEED Core and Shell 2.0 and the old LEED Online version...

Living with LEED Online - quirks, bugs and hiccups

invited team members

February 20, 2012

Is anyone else having a lot of problems currently with invited team members? I've double-checked their actions and there doesnt' seem to be any issues with what they're doing. I've got one team member who can't seem to sign in at all to the LEED website having made an account (he tried changing his password and then was told that his previous password was blocking access to the new email/password combo) and the second one can get onto LEED On-line but when he types in the project number it tells him there is no such project. Both cases I've accessed the website from their computer using my log-in.

If anyone has had any luck submitting a credit that needed the initials of another person and they haven't been able to get that person to log on and initial it, please let me know. I'm not seeing a way around this problem, with my EBOM submittal deadline looming (I've tried FEEDBACK, but with today's lengthy delays, it could be too late)

Unsolved adobe reader issue after following instructions

February 19, 2012

Hi there,
I'm on Windows 7. Both Adobe pro and Adobe 10.1.2 were on my computer. Since I still didin't have access to the LEED Online forms, I switched from Internet Explorer 9 to the 8, switched from Adobe reader 10.1.2 to 10.1.1, followed all the instructions, put the reader 10.1.1 as default, etc. But I still cannot access the Online forms. I sent two feedback message to the USGBC but I get a general auto-reply about the Adobe reader problem. Is there anyone who faced the same problem than me?
Thanks for your help,
Nicolas

Licensed professional exemption / uploads for SSp1

Licensed professional exemption / uploads for SSp1

February 17, 2012

I had a civil engineer try to approve SSp1, Construction Activity Pollution Prevention using his LPE. He went to the credit's LPE page and clicked the box and nothing happened. Neither the form nor requirements changed. Then there's a space for "upload your plan" where the "upload" button doesn't work, and when you click on the "Upload Files" tab it takes you to a page that says "No uploads required." I submitted a question to GBCI about this a week ago, no response. Help!

Submittals: Greengrade vs. LoraxPro

February 17, 2012

The following question came up on another LEEDuser forum. I'm reposting it here in case anyone reading here has perspectives to offer. Let us know what you think!
Our office is looking for a way to track submittals with regard to LEED criteria. Submittals seem to be most relevant to the IEQ credits and the MR credits. We are currently using a spreadsheet that is sent back and forth between the subcontractors, the GC, and the architect (us). This system could use some improvements, and we were looking into submittal-tracking software that specializes in LEED criteria. Has anyone used such software? It looks like Greengrade and LoraxPro might offer such options, but it's not clear without actually trying the software out. If anyone has any experience in using software to track submittals for LEED, even if it's not the 2 applications I mentioned, please let me know what you thought of it.

Additional space during the final design appeal

Additional space during the final design appeal

February 15, 2012

Our CI project is a 4-floor office space located in a 10-floor commercial building. We used the split-review option and are currently working with the Final Design Appeal. Recently, the owner decided to rent a portion of the 5th floor and wishes to include them in the LEED certification. The 5th floor is currently under construction simultaneous with the 1st-4th floors.

From the CI Reference guide, it stated that "if the project team has had a design phase review and any of the anticipated credits have since changed, additional documentation must be submitted to substantiate continued compliance with the credit requirements"

Because of the increase in GFA, majority of the design credits will be changed. Does this mean we can make the revisions/ additions for the 5th floor in the Construction phase? Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Review Comments with Phantom Requirements

"Often required by reviewers" is not an appropriate response to a direct question about where this language appears in credit requirements.
