Team Members Blocked from accessing the Project

February 10, 2012

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place for this post but I can't find a more relevant one. Two team members who had registered with LEED online, found they were blocked when trying to access the project - first told their passwords were invalid and then blocked out completely (if it were just one of them I would suspect they forgot the correct password). So what I tried to do was to deactivate the team member then reinvite them, but the system won't let me reinvite a deactivated member. Has anyone come across this before? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Durability Evalution links don't work

February 9, 2012

Does anyone have a good site for determing average annual wind and rainfall? The links from our durability evaluation form isn't working.

For the requirement of uploading interior renderings or drawings during the design phase -- what kind of drawings are acceptable? Must they be 3d renderings or are interior elevations acceptable?

Strategy changes after construction review

February 9, 2012

1. On a CI project we made a mistake on our water efficiency calculations that means we will not be able to achieve the exemplary performance for either our space or the entire building (SSc1, path 12.) Can we change our strategy for these points and submit backup ID credits?
2. On EAc1.3 - Optimize Energy Performance - HVAC we submitted documentation supporting the appropriate zoning and controls and were awarded the 5 credits associated with this. I now believe that we likely also meet the requirements of the Advanced Buildings Core Performance Guide (by default because the guide was not written with fan-coil systems in mind.) Can I reopen this and expand our submission?

Regularly Occupied Space in Core & Shell for office buildings

Are bathrooms, stairwells, and corridors considered a regularly occupied space for a LEED Core & Shell office building?

LEED Guidance for Campuses and Multiple Buildings

NC and EBOM

February 7, 2012

Hi,

I understand that a single rating system must be used, however for a multi building/ multi building type/ LEED rating system (i.e. new building and existing) can the same campus boundary be used for both assessment, but run two assessment separately; 1 NC with the existing building labelled as ‘Non-LEED buildings and visa versa.

Many thanks. K

LEED Site Boundary

February 6, 2012

Great forum and good information shared has answered a number of our questions, thanks!
On the site boundary for an urban campus public assembly building we're still not 100% on how to draw it. This is a facility that is used occassionally (maybe 10 times a year). There is an adjacent parking lot that is used daily throughout the year to access classrooms and the medical center. On the few times a year when our facility will be used the lot is used for the facility so does it become part of our boundary, even though the main use for the parking lot is for other buildings? Our facility is open daily but the parking lot is not used to support the normal building operations, just event days.
"The LEED project boundary must include all contiguous land that is associated with and supports normal building operations for the LEED project building, including all land that was or will be disturbed for the purpose of undertaking the LEED project"
Hope I'm making sense here?

Minimum Thresholds for Landscape Credits

Minimum Thresholds for Landscape Credits

February 1, 2012

My project is pursuing LEED for Homes: Multifamily Midrise, and I'm, wondering if it has enough landscaped area to qualify for some of the water efficiency and other landscaping credits.

The building in question is a 4 story multifamily unit that is located within a 3 building development that all share a common courtyard. We were initially planning on drawing the LEED boundary at the building line, as the rest of the parcel is pursuing LEED ND certification. There are, however, plant beds that run adjacent to the building along most of the perimeter, as well as several trees and shrubs in planters. In addition, some of the patio adjacent to the building will be pervious.

My question is this: If we want to extend the project boundary out 5 ft or so from the building's exterior walls, is will be be able to capture some of the landscape related points? I know that it will depend on the actual ratios of hard- to softscape, but does anyone know if there are minimum area requirements in order to qualify for landscape-related credits?

I've tried looking in the Homes and Midrise rating systems to no real avail, does anyone have any recommendations for other places to look?

Thanks,
-Sam
