Concrete Curing SystemsNC-2009 IEQc4.1: Low-emitting materials - adhesives and sealantsposted by Tim Rogers on Aug 24, 2010, 11:19 amWe have an issue where a concrete curing application is being used on the concrete BEFORE the weatherproofing system is in place, and before the building is closed-in. As a wet product, the VOCs are a bit too high. After it dries it has Zero VOCs. The manufacturer is adamant that it is VOC compliant. What is your take on this? Should we list the dry product VOC levels, or the wet product VOC levels? Should we preform the VOC BUdget method to be on the safe side? IEQc4.1 ... Last reply: Mara Baum, Aug 24, 2010, 11:52 am |

Option 3 Daylight MeasurementNC-2009 IEQc8.1: Daylight and views - daylightposted by Norma Lehman on Aug 17, 2010, 2:51 pmJill Perry, PE Consultant Jill Perry, LLC LEEDuser Expert 440 thumbs up August 19, 2010- 7:23 pm The reference guide states that measurements must be taken on a 10'-0' maximum spacing implying that a 2'-0" or 5'-0" spacing would also be allowed. The question is if the tighter spacing would be required over the whole area. In other words, could you do a 2'-0" spacing where you would like to, but do a 10'-0" spacing also only where you would like to? In my experience, the reviewers really like consistency. So, besides being a lot more work and perhaps... Last reply: Jill Perry, PE, Aug 19, 2010, 7:23 pm |

Pressure of water supply for faucets/showerheadsEBOM-2009 WEp1: Minimum Indoor Plumbing Fixture and Fitting Efficiencyposted by Yong Lee Low on Jul 27, 2010, 4:10 amDan Ackerstein Principal Ackerstein Sustainability, LLC LEEDuser Expert 819 thumbs up July 27, 2010- 11:51 pm Fascinating question Shilpi. I think that ultimately the intent of the USGBC is to measure the amount of water your fixture uses relative to a standard fixture. If an IPC-compliant faucet uses 0.5 gallons for a 15-second handwash, the bottom line is how much water your faucet uses for the same wash. If the reality of your building is that you operate the building with low water pressure (intentionally and permanently) and therefore use X gallons of water for that handwash, you should... Green vs profitGeneral forumsposted by Bill Swanson on Aug 18, 2010, 8:41 am1) This can be a difficult topic. How do we put a cost on clean air and water. When someone is only interested in immediate profits then it usually takes the government issuing a new building code to force that person to do the right thing. In the US the government cannot require everyone to build to LEED so they tried to lead by example and many new government buildings are LEED certified. Both State and Federal. This has gained a lot of attention for LEED and probably encouraged others to follow with certifying their own buildings. Profit has motivated many business to get their buildings certified.... |
