BIO

Doug Pierce is a LEED® Fellow with over 25 years of experience as a green architect working on a wide range of projects including Corporate Headquarters, Laboratories, Hospitals, Higher Education Facilities, K-12 Schools and Retail Stores.

Doug oversees all LEED Certifications in the Perkins+Will Minneapolis office and has been the LEED Adminstrator for multiple LEED projects at every certification level. All of the projects he has certified have earned the MR7 Certified Wood Credit.

He has co-directed the Sustainable Design Initiative in Minneapolis since 2001 with sustainable design planning responsibilities for over 3 Million square feet of high-performance buildings including The Wilder Center (Gold), Great River Energy Headquarters ( Platinum & AIA COTE Top 10 2009), The Embassy Hospital, Sri Lanka (Pursuing Platinum / LBC), Green Spaces in New Delhi India (Pursuing LEED Platinum), The Maldives Carbon Neutral Project (Pursuing Platinum / LBC), Target ( Certified and Silver) and Best Buy (Pursuing Gold).

Doug is also a Professor in Practice at the University Of Minnesota School Of Architecture and Co-Chairs the AIA Minnesota Committee on the Environment.

He is a Co-Founder of the US Green Building Council Minnesota Chapter and a SMART (Sustainable Materials Rating Technology Standard and Certification) Committee Officer with MTS.
