Req'd # of integrative design team (with owner) seems highPilot-Credits PC6: Integrative Project Planning & Designposted by Renee Shirey on Sep 30, 2010, 3:34 pmI am all for regularly scheduled LEED/sustainability mtgs with the team, but to have that many (12!) and require the owner to be at each of them stops them from being beneficial working mtgs and turns them into a LOT of "presentation" meetings with the owner- with not a lot getting done. I thing the owner should be required to be part of a percentage of them, but not all of them. And/or to have periodic mtgs with the client (but not all 4 members of the integrative design team) makes sense too. Working mtgs without the client allows the design team to be a bit more free in the discussion... Last reply: Tammy George, Oct 19, 2010, 1:49 pm |

questions about LEED reviewer comments at EAp2NC-2009 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performanceposted by Florian Schmidtchen on Sep 27, 2010, 12:21 amhello folks, I just received the comments from the reviewer and have some questions about them. The reviewer questioned a lot about the fan power simulation. Q1. AppendixG assumes each floor served by an individual AHU in baseline case. However my system is quite complex: image a vertical section view of the building, then different systems serve various vertical areas. In the proposed design case, I modeled as design; in baseline case I left eQuest autosizing these AHU 's flowrate. Here comes the quesiton: in Table 6.5.3.1.1B, pressure drop adjustment of AHUs need input of heat recovery device... Last reply: Christopher Schaffner, Oct 16, 2010, 1:58 pm |

Total Site Area- LEED Boundary or Property Line?NC-2009 SSc5.1: Site development - protect or restore habitatposted by Peter Wurst on Oct 14, 2010, 8:12 pmWe are renovating an existing building, providing a large footprint of new construction, and have designated the LEED boundary for our project to include all site that has been disturbed or modified. However, there is a large extent of land outside the LEED boundary that is existing and untouched. SSc5.1 calculates 'total site area,' which through definition refers to 'property area', and is defined as 'the total area within the legal property boundaries of a site.' Our question is if we need to include the total site area as all the property within the property line... Last reply: Tristan Roberts, Oct 15, 2010, 10:57 pm |

Retention Pond = zero potable water usage?EBOM-2009 WEc3: Water Efficient Landscapingposted by Paul C on Sep 13, 2010, 3:11 pmDan Ackerstein Principal Ackerstein Sustainability, LLC LEEDuser Expert 819 thumbs up September 15, 2010- 2:11 pm That sounds a lot like a rainwater retention system to me Paul. You're taking rainwater that otherwise would have run off your property into the storm sewer, storing it, and then using it in lieu of potable water to irrigate the property. If that is your sole source of irrigation... Last reply: Tristan Roberts, Oct 15, 2010, 4:51 pm |

M&V For Industrial FacilitiesNC-2009 EAc5: Measurement and Verificationposted by Mary Frances Stotler on Oct 14, 2010, 11:31 amWe're designing a food processing plant that will have systems in place to monitor the overall loads of the entire building. The drives read the information from all MCCs and determine the overall electrical consumption of our process lines, the HVAC, the office areas and, if approved by the client, overall lighting system. However, this system does not break down the consumption of each individual equipment or individual room and from what I see in the template provided in this website for "Option D Whole Building Approach" I'm concerned that we may not fully comply...
