NC-2009 IEQc4.1: Low-emitting materials - adhesives and sealants

Rick Ferrara AIA, LEED BD+C Gensler LEEDuser Basic Member 118 thumbs up June 2, 2010- 10:17 pm My first question is are these adhesives being used INSIDE the building. The point is INDOOR air quality, not outdoor. If they are outside the building envelope I don't think that they are considered. Much the same way that parking lot paint is treated. Log in or register to post comments Dwayne Wacenske LEEDuser Basic Member 4 thumbs up June 3, 2010- 8:10 am Rick, Thank you for your reply. These adhesives are part of the weatherproofing system. The adhesive is applied to the roof deck and/or...

Commingled materials?

CI-2009 MRc2: Construction Waste Management
posted by Habitech Distretto Tecnologico Trentino on Mar 14, 2011, 10:32 am

Hello. We are working on a CI project. We have only three types of waste (mixed materials, mix of concrete and mix of gyps), with three different containers. All these materials are removed from the building site and diverted from the local landfill recycling them in another building site as backfill to stabilize a lot (without separation or sorting). Is it correct to consider all these materials as "commingled materials" and document this diversion with a letter signed by the GC that describes this process? Thank you in advance! MRc2 ...

Narrative on Data Collection

EBOM-2009 SSc4: Alternative Commuting Transportation

Can anyone help with the text box asking for a description of the data collection methodology etc.? We are using option 3. The survey went out to everyone and we got 66% participation. We have lots of commuter options in place, but we discovered that they are not being well used. In addition to the survey language and response summary uploaded already, what are they looking for here? Just how we distributed and collected the survey (survey monkey?) any help is appreciated. Tristan Roberts Representative Vermont House of Representatives LEEDuser Expert 11477 thumbs up March 28, 2011- 9:26 pm Sarah, the credit is intended to apply to the building as well as grounds. I would include all of the grounds in your LEED boundary, which most likely does include the parking lot, from what you say.If you're adapting this to be an ID credit for NC, you may have more leeway in defining it as you wish, but I would see that as an uphill battle. outdoor air unit system type

NC-2009 EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance
posted by Ana Davidovic on Mar 28, 2011, 8:44 am

I have a project that is classified as a high rise residential building. In the proposed design, the living units are conditioned by water source heat pumps and ventilated via natural ventilation (operable windows). Four 100%-outside air units (each about 10,000 cfm) supply outside air directly into the corridors. Since we don’t plan to claim any energy savings from natural ventilation, I intend to model zero ventilation air in the living units both in the baseline and proposed case and the same amount of outside air (a sum of minimum exhaust rates for residential kitchens, bathrooms and dryers)...

Tristan Roberts Representative Vermont House of Representatives LEEDuser Expert 11477 thumbs up November 12, 2010- 11:19 pm I think there's a method behind the madness...On one line the material cost is counting toward Option 1 of MRc5. On the other line the material cost is counting toward Option 2. So you're not double-counting the cost because it's basically going toward different requirements. Scott Bowman LEED Fellow Integrated Design + Energy Advisors, LLC LEEDuser Expert 519 thumbs up January 6, 2011- 1:31 pm Overall this is good and makes a lot of sense. There are some specifics that are good to have spelled out instead of each team coming up with a methodology of applying renewable energy for example. One question I have is what about WEc4 for Cooling Tower Management? I think some credit should be given if the DES is managing their water well, but that is not covered in this document. Two fan systems on a common supply riser

EBOM-2009 IEQp1: Minimum indoor air quality performance
posted by Dave Munn on Dec 4, 2009, 2:30 pm

We are working on a building with a supply fan both at the top of a common supply duct riser (penthouse) and another supply fan in the lower level connected to the base of the common riser. Both sets of fans have OA/RA/MA damper arrangements. Do we treat this as one large system, or do we draw an imaginary line in the common riser as though we are dealing with two separate fan systems, with regard to the calculator? IEQp1 ...
