foundation re-use count or not?

For the building re-use "structural components", have people been able to “count” existing foundation elements such as caissons or piles? If so did you do it on a SF or CF measurement. Thanks

Cutting Windows and skylights

We are reusing an old auto-parts store that lacked daylight. We are cutting new windows in one wall and installing skylights. Do I subtract those windows from both existing and reused?

Our client has bought a lot with partially demolished existing building listed on national heritage fund list. So we need to preserve what has left - portion of exterior walls.

In the LEED User documentation toolkit they describe using elevations to verify the exisiting / new calculations.
