VOC testing methodNC-2009 IEQc4.1: Low-emitting materials - adhesives and sealantsposted by Victoria Lockhart on Aug 9, 2010, 11:46 amso for a project in europe we have recently been submitted a breakdown of VOC-content for a putty product which showed significantly different values depending on the testing method: DIN ISO 11890 5 g/L, ASTM D-3960-1 72.5 g/L. Anyone have any experience / problems with this in review? Normally the VOC contents are simply quoted without testing method and we do not usually ask which method was used. I cant find any requirement in the Ref Guide regarding testing method, but the SCAQMD Rules specify 3 possibilities: the U.S. EPA Reference Test Method 24; Method 303 in SCAQMD 's "Laboratory... Can you count wood mulch in MRc4?NC-2009 MRc4: Recycled Contentposted by Kelly Pimmel on Oct 26, 2010, 12:58 pmAnne Nicklin Executive Director Building Materials Reuse Association LEEDuser Basic Member 167 thumbs up November 11, 2010- 10:09 pm Hi Kelly, If the mulch is truly from a recycled source, then yes it can count towards MRc4. Any mulch from a virgin tree cut for the purpose of being mulched would not count, but if the manufacturer can display that they are re-processing a material in compliance with ISO 140221, then it should count. I'm assuming that you have trees on your site that are being cut down to make way for a building? They would be included in your MRc2 calculations, and chipping... Recycled DefinitionGeneral forumsposted by Michael Wolfe on Dec 27, 2010, 6:29 pmIt's a bit more complicated than that. At SCS we combine ISO and FTC definitions. In the example cited, our interpretation would hinge on two factors. 1) is the glass from the original manufacturer no longer of a quality sufficient to be used in the the product produced at that plant? In other words, does it qualify as waste? 2) Does it go through a re-processing step before it can be used as feedstock? In other words, is something done to it before it can be used in the second plant? If the answer is 'yes' to both questions, it is clearly recycled. This is the basic definition,... |
