Tracking compacted trash and loose recyclables

My project is having problems tracking their trash and recyclables by volume. The trash is compacted 4:1 in a trash compactor.

Returned product recycling

The project that I'm working on contains a warehouse for shipping sold products. At times, metal products are returned because they are damaged or defective.

We recently hire a new waste hauler who uses scaled front loader trucks to collect our waste & recyclables.

Sorry if this is a repetitive question, but just need clarification- we are meant to be weighing batteries such as AAAs and AAs prior to disposal? and same with light bulbs?
