Hello, we are working on a project in Russia, where we don´t need any irrigation and we have only local plants. In the LEED template we can only upload information for path 8 (2 points). Is path 7 (2 points) granted automatically?

Are you working on a CI 2009 project, in LEED Online 3? I just checked and it looked like there were places to upload documentation for both Paths 7 and 8.

Yes we do CI 3.0 on LEED Online v3. The problem is we have no irrigation, so we don´t know what shall we upload on path 7? Maybe the same site plan as for path 8. Or maybe a description of the plant selection? Thank you for your assistance Tristan!

You raise a good question. I don't know. I would suggest asking GBCI, and please post here what you find out.

I have a CI project where we do not comply with the irrigation reduction requirements but we use non-potable water for all the irrigation systems provided by a local non-potable water utility. In the initial review we were denied path 7 but asked for additional details regarding our buildings achievement of path 8. In essence, rewarded for using non-potable water for 100% of the irrigation needs, but we do not automatically qualify for the irrigation reduction. Not quite the same, but some insight nonetheless.

We just finished a project where the greenscaping is not being irrigated. If you select the option, in Path 7, "The landscaping installed does not require permanent irrigation systems.Temporary irrigation systems used for plant establishment will be removed
within one year of installation", you will be required to provide a signatory and a narrative describing the approach to plant design and selection that would support a non-irrigated strategy. Once completed Path 8 will appear where the same information is asked. We repeated the same information as Path 7 for this. The additional 2 points appeared in our template once these steps were taken.

I tried to look for this option, but my template does not seem to have it available - it is a beta form.
Tristan - has this been resolved? In other systems these points can be added. Thanks.

Agnes, I would recommend you contact GBCI via the feedback form and ask for an upgrade of the form.

The form for Path 7 says that "A 50% reducting in potable water is required for 2 points in Path 7. A 100% reduction in potable water and a 50% reduction in total water is required for 2 additional points in Path 8."
Where does the requirement for a 50% reduction in total water use come from? I can't find any reference to this in the reference guide or addendum.

This requirement has been added to the corresponding credit in all other rating systems (WE c1)It's a footnote on the main page for the credit. However you are right, it's not required for LEED CI. My guess is that this change was forgotten and the templates were created based on the assumption it's all the same. You might want to point that out to the reviewer when submitting for review.

That's the best news I had all Tuesday Susann. Thanks for your help (again.) We're working on a project in Tel Aviv where 100% of the irrigation water is from condensation from the HVAC system, but I've not been informed that they actually did anything to reduce the water use, they have simply used gray water. Do you think there is any way to avoid the landscape calculations or are we best just biting the bullet and jumping through the hoop that the form puts in front of us?

You will still need to go through the calculation. Especially to determine your water use for the landscaping you have. Keep in mind that you will also have to show that non-potable water is enough to irrigate. Usually you will perform a calculation for your design month (least rainfall) and show the non-potable water available, the tank volume and usage as well as the draw for irrigation purpose.
Also keep in mind that just because the 50% reduction clause didn't make it in the LEED CI requirements doesn't mean that the reviewer will let you of the hook so easily. We have been seeing phantom requirements related to many credits, so be prepared for that.
