Our project has a series of exam rooms that we classified as individual, since it is for a particular task with one staff and on additional person. The GBCI reviewer questioned this designation in our review. Does this seem reasonable?

What was their question, and did they suggest a resolution?

Hi Summer and Tristan,
We also have a clinic pursuing LEEDv4 for Healthcare and are also wondering how exam rooms are considered in regard to this credit. The healthcare variation on this credit requires that at least 90% of patient positions be provided with lighting controls that are readily accessible by the patient. While our project does not include extended-stay patient rooms, LEED defines patient position as “a patient bed, infusion chair, recovery room bay, or other location where a patient receives clinical care. Do the exam rooms need to have lighting controls that are positioned near the exam table?

Thank you for the further detail. For reference here is our GBCI reviewer's comment:
It appears that Exam Rooms may be inappropriately classified as an individual occupant
space. An individual occupant space is an area where someone performs distinct tasks. A shared
multi-occupant space is a place of congregation or a place where people pursue overlapping or
collaborative tasks. Refer to the space definitions outlined in the EQ Overview in the LEEDv4
BD+C Reference Guide.
