Hi all,
Curious if it may be possible to consider furniture and pursue Option F if furniture is NOT included in other credit calculations. In our case, the building will be furnished by the owner and is not part of the LEED scope, so not included for low-emitting materials or BPDO credits. However, we can provide guidance to the owner on furniture selection and get access to furniture data for consideration of Option F.
It clearly reads "If furniture is included in the scope of work" which for us it is not, but I am thinking there is some additionality here that may warrant credit. Also, that can be read as "if furniture is not included in the scope, then you will not have influence over it, nor have information to achieve Option F." But, we can.
Would welcome your experience with this.
Thanks, John M

Hi John,
This is a very good question, thanks for posting.
It is my understanding that the project team can select which categories to include when pursuing the LEM credit, regardless of including/excluding furniture.
The EPD/MI credit simply looks for a threshold amount of declarations, so I am pretty sure GBCI would not comment on furnture being included/excluded. (the threshold is typically met from paints, flooring, ceilings, insulation, and door hardware)
The SRM credit it typically achieved from the steel, so recycled content of furniture may not be a factor on this one.
I would guess that furniture can be used to achieve Option F of the Interior Lighting credit without impacting the other associated credits mentioned above.
The reviewer may ask when the furniture was installed if the project pursues the "flushout" option of the IAQ Assessement credit.
That is my two cents, hope you find it to be helpful.
Good to correspond with you again, wish you all the best.
