I'm working on a Core and Shell, mixed development project in Denver. Our builder has asked us if they are able to count the same product to multiple building product disclosure and optimization credits. I've always thought that GBCI permits this, but I wanted to confirm this. I also want to obtain more specific information regarding the specifics to double counting/ double dipping/ or using a single product toward multiple BDP&O credits. However, to my surprise, I haven't found much clarity on this subject from reputable sources. So - could we count the same product to multiple Building product disclosure and optimization credits? If so, what are the restrictions and limitations regarding this flexibility?

The best way to figure this out, is to go into the BPDO calculator (under Documentation tool kit). Generally products can have certificates like EPD and HPD and apply those under the different credits. There is still the restricting that FSC recycled wood for instance can only be apply as either FSC or recycled. Also within one credit you can not count a product twice, because it has for instance a HPD and Declare label.
