NC-v4 SSc2:Site development - protect or restore habitat

Example specifications?

Does anyone have an example specification of section SOIL PREPARATION 329113 that they have completed for a project? We're trying to make sure we include all the proper requirements for an existing site, partially predeveloped, and just need a sanity check to make sure we covered everything and can acquire the proper documentation.

Our project was design build, so we don't have a spec. DO read Table 2 in the Reference Guide with care. You must complete items 1,2,3 and either 4 or 5. Decide ahead of time what you are referring to as your reference soil. If it is the "partially pre-developed soil" - make sure to get it tested before it is disturbed.  I also suggest you include language about avoiding compaction.  Plan ahead for how you will document or achieve the 3% organic matter. The cost of spreading and tilling in compost adds up. We were fortunate that our restored soil had 3% organic matter with no amendments.

Yikes. Thanks, Martha. This credit seems WAY more complex than the previous versions. I hope we're able to catch all of the requirements correctly.

Hello Emily, I was wondering if you could share your experience/lessons learned with this credit...The soil requirements portion is just confusing. Thanks,Ana

Hi Ana, Hope we can still catch your project before review...for all of my projects (even the one I was asking for above), we were able to switch to the newer v4.1 updates, which have simplified the soil testing requirements--they also changed the compliance threshold and changed the vegetation requirements a bit. Still, it's been more achieveable overall since the updates. Hope your project can do the same.
