EBOM-v4 SSc2:Rainwater management

Rainwater Management in Colorado

Does anyone know what the rules are on engaging in rainwater management in Colorado? I'm under the impression that this is against the law in the state.

Jonathan, in Colorado and many western U.S. states, the rain that falls on your land is not yours, due to water laws that allocate it to users downstream. That means that capturing and using rainwater for onsite irrigation can indeed be against the law. However, I think "rainwater management" being against the law would be an overstatement. It's a physical necessity to manage rainwater. Are there specific strategies you're wondering about?

Thanks for your comment, Tristan. I'm new to LEED and am not familiar with low-impact development practices to capture and treat water. Where would be a good place to start?

Jonathan, a quick place to start is our free guide to key concepts in LEED v4. For more depth, I'd want to consult with a landscape architect and/or civil engineer.
