We are working on a project in Berlin. The city facilitates collection of metals commingled with residual household waste and diverts metals in a separate process, so diverted collection of metals is useless. (However biodegradables have to be collected separately for instance.) Is a description of this process sufficient to satisfy the requirements of MRp1 or is the provision of metal collection mandatory in any case?

All you have to do for LEED is to provide the space for collection and recycling. How recycling gets carried out differs from location. I would provide the appropriate space your project and describe in a short narrative how you sized this space.
