Shower location

If you go with this approach then you'll need to provide calculations showing that the number of showers in the adjacent building are enough to serve the occupants of that building and the occupants of your project building. Since this is on a campus and the showers are public, you may have to include the occupants of other buildings that would use those showers in your calculations as well. You will also probably have to provide the following: 1) a drawing showing that the showers are within a 200 yard walking distance of the project entrance; and 2) some sort of signage or notification to the occupants of your project that showers are available for their use in the adjacent building.

Kotaro, I agree with Matthew—reference the credit language above; 200 yards is the rule for showers as well.

I have a similar circumstance so this comment chain is useful. My questions is, where do you draw the project boundary for LEED and what other credits are impacted by default? Only the new building on this site is pursuing LEED, the existing building adjacent to it is not LEED certified (but owned by the same entity).

the requirements are listed in the GBCI "project submittable tips" document. "bicycle storage and shower facilities must be exclusive to occupants for the project, or a sufficient quantity must be provided for all occupants using the am entities." "if shower/changing facilities are located in another building, be sure that the building allows project occupants full access to the facilities during the same hours as the project building."
