EBOM-2009 IEQc1.4:IAQ Best Management Practices—Reduce Particulates in Air Distribution

Non-compliant pre-filters

I am working on a project with several large outdoor air handlers. Each air handler has a system of MERV 8 pre-filters followed by MERV 13 main filters. Would this credit be achievable considering the current set-up? Thank you.

Eddie, according to the credit language (see above), you simply have to use MERV 13 filters prior to air being introduced to occupied spaces. So I don't see any problem with your situation.

Eddie, Tristan is correct. This complies and is actually a very typical situation. The pre-filters are there to lengthen the life of the more expensive MERV 13 filters.
