Daylighting - Prescriptive Calc

NC-2009 IEQc8.1:Daylight and Views—Daylight
posted by  Francisco Villela  on

Working on an Auto Dealership. Is it possible that I have too much window to qualify for Daylighting? All my calcs are resulting in VLT x WFR's well beyond 0.18. Any thoughts?

In the course of the 30+ LEED projects I have participated in, I have never successfully achieved this credit.

The project I am working on is over the light allowance, but does not have any money in the budget to add mechanical glare control devices. Is there an alternative compliance path...

Hi, I am working on a project that is targeting IEQ 8.1. We are going to use option 1 to show credit compliance. For the simulation we use Relux.

zone floor area

Is the 'zone floor area' in the prescriptive calcs bascially just the area on the floor plan that is determined by the width of the window x twice the height?

Can EnergyPlus be used to simulate daylighting for this credit? From my understanding, the clear-sky daylight factors are calculated for sun positions in EnergyPlus.

We are using IES VE to show compliance with EA P2 and IEQ C8.1. For EA P2 we combined spaces with similar schedules to zones, separated by orientation.
