NC-2009 SSc7.2:Heat Island Effect—Roof

wooden deck

Hi, my question concern wooden deck on the roof. Does it need any SRI value? In general wood does not emite any heat so what will be an advantage it I paint it white or not? Does white painted wood is enought for SRI value > 78? Thanks

Radoslaw, you would need to include the wood in the roof area. All materials that are warmer than absolute zero emit heat—wood is no different and needs to be included here. My guess is that painting it white will help, but you would need to use a wood product or a paint with a known SRI value to qualify the area for the credit.

Hi guys, Anyone knows any wood product with a known SRI? I've been searching for a long time, but I have failed to find anything related to Wood! Thanks..
