I have serious doubts when selecting the most suitable rating system for a project of a retirement residence.
From my point of view, a building of these characteristics is dedicated to the healthcare of people, but in turn, if a person becomes ill, he or she has to be diverted to a hospital, because they do not have proper medical facilities.
Is the difference between healthcare and medical treatment really so decisive for LEED?
If we read textually the definition of the Healthcare rating system, it seems that a retirement residence is out of reach and should be registered under the new construction system. However, the credits of the healthcare system seem totally adequate for these cases.
Can you advise me with this case? Should I register this project as new construction anyway?

Hi Maria,
If you look at some of the previous conversations within this same forum, you'll see that others have had similar questions. The general response is that LEED for Healthcare is really just for hospitals. See this thread, for example: https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/forum/v4-healthcare

Thank you very much for your clarifying response Nadav. The words "just for hospitals" have got me out of doubt.
Best regards,
María
