I have a project on a campus whose microgrid is in part served by a large fuel cell. The fuel cell is powered by waste methane gas purchased from a nearby wastewater treatment plant. The Reference Manual states that biofuel is an eligible renewable energy source "in some cases" but for this case it is not clear whether the waste methane gas is considered eligible.

Methane from landfills is allowed as a renewable so I would think that this would be too.
