I have a question concerning waste heat recovery in data centers. Recovery of the waste heat (directly or assisted with heat pumps) is part of many guidelines and best practices concerning data center design and operation but can you take benefit of it in LEED Energy Performance credits?

Probably. You will need to make the case that it is not standard practice in your area. See also the spreadsheet available to calculate data center energy savings. Not sure if that is one of the strategies included or not.
