Dear Sirs, I've worked on several LEED Projects and i'm a phd student, so my thesis revolves around developing a new LEED Credit, and i was wondering if i would like to test the applicability of the newly designed credit, the submission of a new pilot credit should be within a LEED Registered project ? or is it possible for me to submit it on its own , as i am a usgbc member ? also i want to know what is the time frame required for validating the suggested credit ?

USGBC members can propose pilot credits from this page: http://www.usgbc.org/leed/tools/pilot-credits - these proposals are evaluated by the Pilot Credit Library Working Group (PCLWG) and other USGBC Committees, and, if recommended by the PCLWG, they are ultimately approved by the LEED Steering Committee before being posted in the pilot credit library (http://www.usgbc.org/pilotcredits). Some of the newer pilot credits were developed in this way, including Green training for contractors, trades, operators and service workers, Local Food Production and Design for Active Occupants. The review time for this process varies greatly depending on how many committees are selected to review the proposal, and what kind of requests the committees make (modifications to credit language, proof of efficacy, etc.). Proposals are also not guaranteed to become pilot credits, the PCLWG and other committees may choose not to recommend that a proposal move forward.
