Hi,
I'm currently working on a project in Islamabad, Pakistan. Its a rehabilitation center that is entirely completed and will be operational within this month. The client has decided at this stage of the project that they want to pursue LEED certification for the building. I have two queries regarding this project;
1. What is the right LEED adaptation for the project? Its just completed, so can we certify it under BD+C Healthcare? Also, do rehab centers qualify for healthcare or should we go for BD+C New Construction? Since its going to be operational within this month, should we still go for BD+C or should we opt for O+M?
2. What is the right approach for the certification process of a building that is entirely complete? Can we submit the design and construction documentation all at once to USGBC?
Thanks

Hello!
I think I already posted reply to this question – I suppose it wasn't moderated since it had links to other topic here - you can find it at this forum below, listed "LEED certification for advanced construction process" – to be short: at this stage (completed building) it's already too late to adopt LEED BD+C to it.
P.S. For you not to search it - I'll post my reply from there.
You are right - at such stage it's too late and impossible to provide data for such construction prerequisites as "Construction Activity Pollution Prevention", "Environmental Site Assessment" and credits like "Construction Indoor Air Quality Management Plan" - which documentation must be obtained at the construction stage.
I also see problem with "Integrative Project Planning and Design" prerequisite.
So in my experience - if client even after explanation of such problems still wants to check if he can pursue certification, we make little contract on assessment of "certification possibility" and making a report (of course prepaid and payment do not depends on report result), that some of prerequisites are "lost" and certification is impossible.
One of colleagues also mentioned problems with fundamental commissioning.

Thank you Andrey. I think your reply makes it much clearer, as I was already facing difficulties with most of these prerequisites mentioned, however the client was insistent on trying. The idea of an assessment for certification possibility seems to me like a good approach to convince the client about the situation.
