Pursuing additional credits after final certification review

Jim, if you meant making up the shortfall by pursuing new credits that is not possible. What had been submitted will be what are reviewed. Only way now is to seek appeal on any denied credit that you assessed to have been wrongly reviewed and in compliance with the LEED prescription, otherwise don't waste your money.

Only exception is the ID credit whereby if during the Design Review an ID credit is denied or likely to be denied, you may delete that credit submittal and replace with a new ID credit for submission during the Construction Review. In your case it sounds like you are too late here.

Appeals may be pursued for new credits that have not been previously submitted, and for credits where the original documentation was not sufficient to award the credit. You can read about both of these options in section 14 of the Certification Policy Manual (see link above), on page 15. In particular, this section may help to clarify this possibility: "14.1.1 Clarifications or New Credits as Appeals: The appeals process may be used as a mechanism for submitting clarifications related to denied prerequisites and credits, or it may be used to add new credits or compliance paths previously not submitted for review—the Project Administrator should indicate this in the appeal documentation." Wow, I stand corrected! So in essence we can submit further credits via appeal not just to challenge a Reviewer's denial of prereqs & credits. I note the preconditions - it has to be a "first level appeal" and will be deliberated on its merits by the same Reviewer with no further chance of appeal. I am puzzled (but not complaining) however as to why appeal can be used to add new credits, it 's like a moving goal post...although I can understand the rationale for adding a new compliance path for an exsiting submitted credit that had been denied,

Its not moving the goal post, it allows teams that either are contractually obligated or required by some other mandate the ability to do so. Depending on what they add may cost a pretty penny to implement especially if they have earned all their ID credits. EAc6 is a credit that can be purchased somewhat easily.

Just remember to make sure that all Ts are crossed and Is are dotted. You do not want to submit information that is contradictory to information already submitted in awarded credits.
