For another project in Italy, we are planning to do the same only with biomass (untreated wood waste) instead of the biogas. It will be bought from the supplier and burnt on site to produce heat. My understanding is that it should be eligible for eac2, but I would appreciate any input.
Sounds like it should be eligible. The only issue may be the "on-site" criteria. Check the LEED Interpretations on this issue and if your situation is not clearly addressed you might want to submit one.
