Precertification

I have never done a precertification process before, and the information in the reference guide and the USGBC website is quite brief. Does anyone have any experience with precertification, advice, pitfalls? If one is building a "cold dark shell" project, it looks to me like precertification is the only way to go. Is that the experience others have had?

I don't have precertification experience so I can't speak to your question, really, but I can say that you can certify a cold, dark shell—not just precertify it.
