I checked in on my submitted hours and was pleased with the pre-approval process. The GCBI confirmed that they are retroactively reviewing hours and mine were completed less than a week after the announcement about pre-approval.
One note: I'm currently communicating with the GBCI on some of the LEED-Specific hours from Greenbuild 2010 (listed at http://www.greenbuildexpo.org/files/GBCI-Specific-Sessions.pdf). Live presentations are not eligible for LEED-Specific hours as noted in the CMP guide and by the pre-approval review of my submitted hours; however, there were sessions listed as approved for LEED-Specific hours at Greenbuild. I'll post a follow-up comment with the resolution on this.

I wonder why live LEED specific presentations are not accepted. There are LEED Faculty members giving such presentations all over the globe. What is the rationale for that? Side note: I just discovered that the book I co-authored was not completely approved-Only 1.5 out of 11.5 hours were pre-approved. I'm still at a loss for words, ironically.

As the associate who works on CMP at GBCI I can answer your questions.
Jeremy--All of the approved sessions at Greenbuild are considered professional development not live presentation because they have gone through a thorough review process.
Marian---10 of the 11.5 hours you reported were for authoring a book. All authorship activities are auditable and that is why they are not automatically approved. I should take this opportunity to point out that the process that reviews hours is looking for certain criteria. It is not simply blanketing approvals for all your hours.

Randall--Who should I contact about this issue? I'd prefer not to continue this discussion on line.

Randall, good to have you on the forum.I heard via email from someone who was wondering about the credential renewal process. They thought that because hours were now being approved, that credentials were also being renewed if CE requirements were met. I am guessing that the process for reviewing hours is separate from renewing credentials, and will be launched later this year. Is that correct? Any idea on the timeframe?

Randall - thanks for clearing it up! I'm guessing I need to go back in and re-post the hours for both Greenbuild 2009 and Greenbuild 2010 since I had originally put those in as live presentations.
And thank you also for diligently working on the daunting task of reviewing all of the hours LEED APs submit!

Tristan, thanks for the welcome.
You are correct. They are two separate processes. We're pushing for the launch of the renewal process by late Feb.

I was also pleased to see all my entries marked as pre-approved. Nice to have that feedback upfront, so any deficiencies can be identified while there's still plenty of time to fill the gaps.
I should also note that Randall was very courteous and responsive in answering some questions I sent in via email, that arose when I went to input my activities. I appreciate the great support from the GBCI in navigating the CMP process, since it's so new to all of us.
