With the Innovation in Design credit for LEED-CI v4, the reference guide indicates that you can achieve all 5 credits thru a combination of innovation and exemplary performance credits (option 3). However, the ONLINE form says of your 5 innovation credits, you MUST achieve at least one pilot credit? Contradiction?

Len, this was just recently clarified in a LEED Interpretation. You do need to hit each category (innovation, EP, pilot credit) to maximize your points.

Hi, This was clarified in addenda for LEED BD+C(Oct 2, 2017, page 69) where it is stated that 'one point is reserved for Pilot Credits and one for Innovation. To use all five points projects must use at least one pilot credit and innovation credit.'

On my CI project, I contacted GBCI for clarity. Since that project was registered before the LI was released, we were able to document all 5 points without a Pilot Credit. If anyone has a project that was registered before the LI release, you will need to also contact GBCI specifically for your project. I uploaded the correspondence for backup support.
