NC-2009 SSc4.4:Alternative Transportation—Parking Capacity

Option 3 of SSc4.4

Our project is on a college campus and proposes to demolish an existing parking lot in order to construct a building addition. The project is also proposing new parking that will service both the existing building as well as the entire campus; the number of spaces exceeds what was in the existing parking lot. This new parking lot is within our defined LEED boundary. Is it possible to meet the credit requirements for option 3 of SSc4.4 (“no new parking”) if we designate parking spaces specifically for the building addition that do not exceed the number of spaces that were in the existing parking lot and designate the rest of the parking spaces for use by the general campus population?

Terry, in my opinion you could have to put those spaces not for your building outside your LEED project boundary in order to take this approach.
