NC-v4.1 MRc4:Material Ingredients

Option 2 Examples?

We are looking for examples for Option 2 for:

- Material Ingredient Screening and Optimization

- Advanced Inventory & Assessment (HPD or Manufacturer Inventory)

Does any one have any examples they could share that are compliant?

it seems that it doesn't exist, the only thing that's available which I have seen till now is the C2C certificates and REACH compliance. other than that I did not see anything even I have searched for different manufactures around the world to support my clients.

Yes, look at the HPD Public Repository. Use the search filters on the lower left of the page to filter for HPDs compliant with both Options 1 and Options 2 of LEED v4.

Most of the HPD's in the HPD Public Repository are from Europe.  The only one that I saw that is a product that i commonly see used on project here in the USA is an Aquamix Sealer from Custom BP.  Oddly, the HPD itself says that the HPD was was NOT 3rd party verified which I thought made it ineligible for option-2?!  Additionally I've found several HPD's that say "Pre-checked for LEED v4 Material Ingredients Option 1 and Option 2" that are also NOT 3rd party certified (examples:  Certainteed - ceiling suspension system & Owens Corning - Ecotouch).  The v4.1 reference guide seems pretty clear about requiring 3rd party verification in order to qualify for optimization  (option-2) so I'm not sure what to think about that.  Since the Certainteed and Owens Corning products do not currently show up in the HPD Repository LEED compliance opt-2 filter, my guess is that the HPD files that I have are marked as option-2 compliant were done in error. So I wish that I had a better answer for you. but I'm finding lots of confusing and conflicting information myself.

Hi Gregor, I'm surprised to hear you say that mos HPDs are from Europe. There is healthy European representation there, but the majority are for products sold in North America. What other product category or categories are you looking in? In some less-common product categories representation can be spotty. The LEED v4 Pre-check is in the process of being updated to LEED v4.1—stay tuned. In the meantime, use the search filter for third-party verified HPDs along with the Option 2 one, and you'll get close. Any other questions or comments, please post back.... we're here to help!
