Our project is located across the street from a military airfield. The design approach is to not provide habitat for animals and birds to promote their safety as well as the safety of the airplanes and helicopters using the airfield. Can this be considered a possible approach for an Innovation in Design credit? Or could this be considered an 'Alternative Compliance Approach' for SSc5.1 Protect or Restore Habitat?

David, this would fall under: credit not appropriate for this project. I don't think that making an environment that is inhospitable to animals less hospitable to them could really be rewarded under LEED.What about insects, reptiles, amphibians, etc. that wouldn't be affected by the airport? Songbirds?
