Dear SDL'ers
After many months of soul searching about my role as a sustainability leader and how to have the most positive environmental impact, I have decided to take a leave from practice to pursue further studies this September. I will be undertaking a two year Master’s degree at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on urban climate change adaptation.
This has been an extremely difficult decision, as my work at FXCollaborative and as an SDL'er has been exciting and very fulfilling. However, given the environmental challenges that we currently face, I feel it is necessary for me to step away and take the time to think and research these issues more profoundly. I hope to come out of the experience with fresher eyes and a deeper perspective so that I can be as effective as possible.
As such, I am leaving my position at FXCollaborative. I will be staying at FXC through most of August, helping to find my replacement and ensuring that the transition is as seamless as possible. We are looking for an intermediate, Manager-level Sustainable Design Leader who can grow into a Director-role over the next few years. If you are interested, or know of a potential candidate, please email me directly at ijudah@fxcollaborative.com
It has truly been a privilege to engage with and learn from all of you for the past 10 years. I have been so inspired by this group and will miss you deeply! I see this phase as a sabbatical, and plan to return to New York - in what role - to be determined...
I hope to see as many of you as possible at the AIA Convention next week. I will send out my personal contact information in August before my departure.
With gratitude,
Ilana
